Power Poppy: Winter Blooms

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!  Yup… today’s my lucky day!  My Mom is a Friday the 13th baby so for me, it’s a lucky one!

This month over on the Power Poppy Blog for our Power & Spark Challenge we are showcasing all things wintry floral!  Come and check out all the challenge details right here.  You could WIN a stamp set just for sharing your creation with us!

So for my wintry blooms, I chose to use the beautiful Joyful Lilies digital stamp set. This gorgeous set comes just like the image seen below or it comes wrapped around a beautiful cross for Easter plus a few sentiments.  I then used a birthday sentiment from the Party Time clear stamp set.
 Copic Markers: Y06, YG0000, YG000, YG01, YG03, YG17, B41, B23, BV00, R20, R21, R22, R27

I chose to create a card with a bumped up layer of the larger lily blooms.

I'm going to share this with the Seize the Birthday Challenge this week: "Anything Goes" this week.

Now come and let’s check out all the other Power Poppy creations today…

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have an amazing day!

Christmas in July with a Twist

Howdy all everyone!  I’m back from the land of Scout camp.  I was honoured to join another local Scouting groups summer camp wit their Cub group to add another leader for their 5 day event.  Let me tell ya, camp makes you tired; long sleepless nights, warm campfires, yummy food and fun activities with all the kids.  I’m glad to be home.

This week StampNation is celebrating “Christmas in July” with a twist; a colour twist!  Here’s a peek at all the Dream Team card creations this week.
And here’s a little bit more of a close up of my own card creation with Purple Onion Designs & WPlus9…
Lots of cuteness going on this week!

I’ve also incorporated the StampNation challenge into my Splitcoaststampers Card Sketch creation this week.  Check out this Christmas cutie…

He’s the shepherd & sheep from the SugarPea Designs collection, “Lost Without You” stamp set. The stamp set has been on my wishlist for awhile now and it finally arrived yesterday so I just HAD to ink him up right away!

Whimsy Stamps Blog Hop

Howdy everyone!  I hope you're having an amazing Thursday!

Welcome to Day 1 of the Whimsy Stamps clear stamps & die release!  Did you get a gander at those fabulous stamps and corresponding dies up there?  So many fun creative possibilities to be had.  These 4 new clear stamp sets and 2 die sets are on sale in the store right now!!!

Today I am featuring the sweet little "Hoo Loves You" clear stamp set.  This wonderful set includes 3 adorable owls and 3 hoot-ariffic sentiments too!

#thedailymarker30day

Today I thought I would share with you how I created my focal square and how I created the back ground for my adorable little owl.
Step 1:
Stamp the owl image onto the cardstock die cut square using brown ink.  Stamp the same image again onto some masking paper (by Inkadinkado) and cut out the masking paper owl.  You can also use Post-It-Note paper for this too.   They now make some that is sticky all the way across except for a small edge.
Step 2:
Adhere the square temporarily to some scrap paper using some low-tack tape.  I used Micropore Tape. I love this stuff because you can still see through it to position it for a little masked border!  Peel the masking paper backing from the owl and stick it right over top of the stamped image.
Die cut a circle from a Post-It-Note or masking paper to create a mask for the moon in the back ground.  Adhere the circle mask right over top of your masked owl.
Step 3:
Using a Copic airbrush, apply some Copic BG13 around the outer edges of the square, leaving a lighter area around the moon mask.
Step 4:
Using a Copic airbrush, apply Copic BG72 around the edges and to deepen the colour there.

Step 5:

Using the Copic airbrush, apply Copic BG07 around the edges, to deepen the colour there even more.  This effect can also be achieved by applying inks from light to dark in a circular motion from the outside of  square towards the moon.
Step 6:
Using Copic Y04 in the airbrush, apply the yellow colour around the lighter gap around the moon.  This creates a moon "glow".
Step 7:
Peel off and SAVE your circle mask.  Leave your owl mask on.  Apply a little more Copic Y04 to the moon.
Step 8:
Using Copic T1, T2 and T3, add some dots of grey colour to the moon to create it's rough cratery surface appearance.

Step 9:
Place the circle mask back over the moon again, pressing the edges of the mask firmly on the paper.  Using a slightly watered-down white acrylic paint and an old toothbrush, run your thumbnail through the bristles to create a fine splatter effect - the effect of stars across the back ground.
Step 10:
To finish your image off, remove all of the masks, colour in some branches using tones of darker brown Copic and colour in the little owl.  I added texture to his head and belly using fun, fine strokes of colour right over top of the original brown ink.  I also retraced some of the stamp lines with a black Copic Multi-liner to make them stand out a little bit more from the brown ink.

Here's a close up of the little coloured fella sitting on his little moonlit branch again...

There's a chance to WIN a $15 gift certificate to the Whimsy Store today and all you have to do is leave a comment on each and every one of the blog hop participants today.  So check out these fabulous ladies and their amazing creations using some of the new clear stamp release sets!  Take it away ladies...

Moose Be Love!

I have finally jumped ahead of all of my scheduled card making and had some time to create for fun!  Yup… I don’t often get time to create for the sake of creating.

Today I decided to join the Simon Says Stamp! Flickr group challenge where they are teamed up with Lawn Fawn for a fun challenge together.

The challenge is to “Get Crafty with Kraft”, so I used kraft cardstock as my card base, some woodgrain patterned papers and some woodsy colours (browns).
As part of the challenge you were to use some Simon Says Stamp! and/or Lawn Fawn exclusive products so I used the following items from both companies on my card:
  • Lawn Fawn – “Stitched Rectangles” Dies
  • Lawn Fawn – “Critters in the Arctic” stamps
  • Simon Says Stamp! – “Celebrate” stamps & coordinating dies
  • Simon Says Stamp! – “Falling Snow” Stencil
Here’s a little close up of the pearlescent embossing paste I used with the snow stencil to create the cold winter day effect…
Thanks for stopping by today to check out my card!

Introducing… Merry Littles!

We are continuing today with Day 3 of our Happiest Holiday Collection!  This will be our third new holiday inspired stamp set and it’s called… “Merry Littles”.  A fitting title because this collection of stamps is packed with 18… yes, 18 wonderful little holiday images and sentiments!

For my card today, I was kinda going for a vintage look but don’t think I achieved it all that well.  I played around with these papers for hours and couldn’t quite find the feel and look I wanted.

Do you ever have one of those kind of cards?  One where you can find that last little item to make it complete?  Yup… I just couldn’t decide so I left it.  Oh well… c’est le vie!

Now, come along and check out what the gals have created for you to peek at today…
