Welcome to the
Heffy Doodle and
Catherine Pooler Designs Collaboration Blog Hop!
Design Team members from both companies are sharing inspiration using products from both companies!
I can't tell you how much I love to create interactive cards so when
Heffy Doodle and
Catherine Pooler decided to do a collab, I was SO super excited!
For my card share today, I created this fun Shadow Box card!
I began my card by die cutting two white cardstock card bases using the Heffy Doodle "Big Shadow Box Die". I also used the stitched square die to cut out the window from one side of a single panel. I then used the Over Coffee ink to stamp the "Good Vibes Border" (sorry, I didn't realize it had been retired) image all over the front of both card base panels.
For easy repeat stamping, check out this video below. I have some great tips on how to stamp a background with ease!

On the backside of the large square panel (without the window), I used my blender brushes and created a cool sunset sky using Be Mine, Tiki Torch and Tiara inks.
Then I die cut 2 of the landscape shaped pieces from the Heffy "Big Shadow Box" die. I used Clay Mask and Sand Castle inks to created a beachy feel to the first landscape. For the second landscape, I used the grassy border die to cut the edge and then inked it up with Lime Rickey ink.
Next I stamped bird & floral images from the "Toucan Do It" stamp set in Midnight ink and colored them using Copic Markers. I also stamped some greenery from the "Tropically Yours" stamp set using Garden Party and sponged Lime Rickey inks. Two fun palm trees from the "Fearless Pursuit Dies" were also cut out and I free-hand drew in palm trees using Copic Markers for those. Yes... you can always use your dies alone with out using the coordinating stamps!
Next came assembly time! I first taped the 2 Big Shadow Box panels together leaving the front glue strip unattached. Then I laid in my landscape pieces; sandy landscape towards the back and the grassy landscape towards the front. I also ended up die cutting another landscape piece and trimming it and inking it up to match the pink of the sunset to hang some greenery & my toucan from. I carefully attached my palm trees to the sandy beach, then my toucan hanging upside down using a piece of clear acetate and then added all the rest of my greenery and flowers. I also used acetate to help attach my Cockatoo bird as well.
And of course, you can't forget a place to write a message to your recipient! I used the stitched piece of cardstock from cutting out the front window and mounted it to a fun piece of pink patterned paper from the "Be Mine Prints" 6x6 paper pack and added a fun sentiment from the "Toucan Do It" stamp set.
Now... the good stuff!
