Little Yellow Submarine

Happy Sunday!  Have you come and checked out the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps "Spring Krafty Krop" yet?  Click here to see what we're up to!

For challenge #7, I wanted to create a super fun interactive card for one of my nephews.  For this challenge, as you can see below, you had to choose 3 elements listed to use on your card.

I chose to use; slimline card, stitching and stencilling.

So here is the finished card featuring the fun "Underwater Fun" stamp set.

And here is the WOW factor.... it lights up!  YUP!!!

So here's a quick tutorial on how I made this card.

1.  I stamped my images on 2 pieces of cardstock.  I coloured everything with Copic Markers but I ink blended my back ground using Amazing Azure, Sparkling Sapphire and Stormy Sky inks.  I used the "So Many Circles Stencil" and some white pigment ink to stencil on the bubbles.

2. I fussy cut out the window and the helmet from the top panel.

3. Next I built a battery house and laid down a row of copper tape for the negative and positive lines.  Then I stuck down the white LED light stickers from Chibitronics.

4. Then I framed in all my windows and the helmet using doubled foam tape.  You can lay the foam right over top of that copper tape.

5. Next I cut really thin silver metallic paper strips and backed them with really thin Scor Tape and ran them around the outside of all the windows to allow the lights to reflect back over the images.  It really did allow the light to better transmit across the faces.

6. I removed the foam tape backer paper and laid the top panel across the foam taped lower layer.

TIP:  When using my stitched line on the "Patterned Parade Stencil" with my white gel pen, I used a thin piece of Post-It Note Tape on the back to create a very simple little lip for my stencil to sit against the card panel to keep it straight!  Yup... super fun tip!

I hope you'll come join in the fun!  Hope to see you there!

Quite Like You!

Happy Saturday everyone!  Time for another fun Saturday Challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

This week's challenge is to use CIRCLES!

For my interactive card I used the super adorable "Out of this World" stamp set.

For my card, I started with a white cardstock panel and then blended a whole bunch of fun KKS inks on it; Charming Chartreuse, Morning Marigold, Pink Pizzazz, Purple Pansy and Amazing Azure.

Then I added Wicked Black ink over the whole panel leaving some of the bright colours showing through in some areas of the paper.  I then splattered it with some FineTec metallic paints in Red and Red-Brown.  I also sponged some of the fun dots through the "Lots of Dots Stencil" using some White Acrylic paint. I also sponged the white paint through the medium circle in the "Krafty Scenery Stencil" to create my planet in the sky.

I used the tiny circle die from the MFT "Launch Party Die" to die cut the holes for my stars.

Next, I used the card front panel and traced my star holes onto my card base using a pencil.  Then I used the Copper Tape and created a positive and a negative trail from my battery pocket to each one of the penciled in circles.  Then I added one Chibi light to each of the star areas making sure that the positive terminal and the negative terminals where lined up on the correct sides of the light stickers.  I also built a paper bridge over top of the one copper tape run to make it easier to run another copper tape line.

This is what the battery pocket looks like with the copper tape on the top flap of the pocket to ensure contact with the battery.  It wraps from the inside of the flap right onto the top of the flap and down to the card base paper.

Next I created a doubled up 3D foam area around the battery to ensure the battery stayed in place.  Then I added more doubled foam to the card base panel to make everything level.  I made sure to leave spaces where the lights were PLUS the copper tape is so thin and the foam tape isn't conductive so I put the foam right over top of the copper tape.

And here's the final card all lit up.  I'll be sure to put a "Press Here" message where the recipient is supposed to press on the card front.

Plus... don't forget that this weekend Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is having a fun on-line crop!  There will be 8 fun challenges for you to participate in.  I hope you can join us on our KKS Krafty Friends Facebook page, HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'd love to hear what you think about my card!

Happy creating!

Today at 5:00pm EST, I have my first of the 2 classes I am doing LIVE.  It entails a really simple card showing you how to use the Krafty Scenery 3 Stencil and how to make a sandy beach scene.  Plus we colour up the sweet beachy gal with some Copics from the "What's the Scoop?" stamp set.

Plus my second class on Sunday is how to make an easel card.  I'm featuring the "Underwater Fun" stamp set and the Krafty Scenery 3 stencil again.

All the LIVE classes this weekend will be saved to the KKS Facebook page so you can go back and watch them at anytime.

Happy Saturday! Happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day!  Over at Kraftin' Kimmie's Facebook group, we're having a tiny little event during the weekend.  Come and join us for some fun!

This week's Saturday Challenge is all about multiple layers!

So for my card today I used the adorable "Snail Mail" stamp set along with the awesome "Krafty Scenery 2 Stencil" to create my card.

I stamped all of my images using Creamy Caramel ink and coloured them up with Copic Markers.  I used some coloured pencils to add in some of the finer details.  Then I used lots of fun inks and our scenery stencil to make my layered back drop; I used Bubbly Blue, Granite Grey, Mossy Meadow and Charming Chartreuse.  I used the fun mountains and the grassy edges of the stencil.

PLUS... my little mailman actually delivers the letter to the mailbox!!!!  How cute is that?!?!

I also used the new sketch for the month of May too...

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous and krafty weekend!

Fairy Folk

We are BACK with Day TWO of our April Krafty Peeks at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

Today we've got a magical new stamp set that's perfect for any time of year but especially for spring! It's from artist Sabrina van Vloten.  It's called... FAIRY FOLK!

These little sweeties are ready to flutter right into your hearts!  There are FIVE magical little fairies (including a boy) plus adorable accessories and mix & match sentiments!!

I knew I had to create a little fairy world found deep in the depths of the grass.  So I stamped my little fairies, a few toadstools and then made it a magical scene…

To compliment the purple in the design, I used our new GORGEOUS GRAPE ink and the pretty BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES STENCIL to add to the base of my card and frame up my scene.

Check out FAIRY FOLK in action as you hop around the Krafty Team's blogs today! You'll also see the new stencils, new ink and new dots along the way!! Be sure to leave some love at each stop because I'm going to give away some krafty moolah to a lucky commenter!
