Halloween is creeping closer, and that means the Sweet November Stamps Halloween release is almost here too! I couldn’t resist getting into the spooky spirit a little early with this eerie little card featuring one of the new wonderfully creepy Creepy Dolls.
There are three dolls in the collection—Kelly, Jackie and Wendy—and for today’s card I chose Kelly Doll with the Strings. There is something about her dangling marionette-style pose, cracked porcelain face and those wonderfully creepy details that makes her perfect for a Halloween card. I love how she looks as though she has just appeared onstage for her own spooky little performance!
I colored the entire scene with Copic Markers, keeping Kelly’s dress in bright blues with pops of vivid green. I also worked in some of my fluorescent orange Copic Markers to create a subtle glowing effect throughout the background. That extra bit of eerie warmth really helps set the mood and makes the whole scene feel like it is lit by some mysterious Halloween stage lights.
The finishing touch was the perfectly playful sentiment, “Pulling Strings for a Happy Halloween.” It ties the whole marionette theme together and adds just the right bit of humor to this delightfully creepy card.
I had so much fun coloring Kelly and bringing her spooky little stage to life. She’s eerie, quirky and just the right amount of creepy—exactly what I love for Halloween! Keep your eyes peeled because the new Sweet November Stamps Halloween release is coming soon! 👻🎃
