Stars and Sketches!

Happy Saturday everyone!!  I hope you have an amazing weekend.  For me, this is the last few days of Spring break.  Here in Southern Alberta, we had a late Spring break.

It's time for another fabulous sketch over at Let's Capture Our Memories.  This week's sketch is a fun layout sketch by the ever-talented Melissa Williams.

For the sketch this week, I was given the challenge of creating a card using Melissa's sketch...

Star Bright

For my card I cut a series of patterned paper stars using my Klic N'Kut machine and then adhered them to some slightly larger black cardstock stars.  I created a simple back ground and a scalloped card base and I misted a few colours of mist across the front.

Timeless Tuesday ~ Wrap Me Up in Ribbon!

Howdy all!  Happy first week of April everyone!  I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend.  It's time for another fantastic Timeless Tuesday Challenge from Flourishes!

Our hostess, Denise, is challenging us to create a card or project this week where we layered some ribbon (FTTC214).  Take a wide ribbon and layer a more narrow ribbon over top of it, layer two or more colors of twine together, etc. Get creative!

This week I'm headed home to Ontario for about 6 days and I'm lucky enough to be going out with my 3 girlfriends one evening, two of which, have birthdays this week.  So I knew I was going to need some fun birthday cards to take home with me; hence all the matchy-match birthday cards!

Birthday Violets

For my first card, I used a sheer ribbon with a narrow opaque ribbon to create my layers. For my card base, stamped image and sentiment die cut were all using Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock.  My card design was based on a last week's sketch from Splitcoaststampers.

For my violets (and sentiment), I used the violet bouquet image from the "Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1" stamp set using Memento's "Pistachio" ink.  I think this image looks almost water coloured using the green ink instead of black ink.



Birthday Doily Violets

For my second card I used the same sheer green ribbon but I put it through my sewing machine and then pulled one of the threads a bit to get a more frilly ribbon base and then added the light green ribbon thin ribbon on top.  Super easy to do!  My central image was stamped and die cut using the Spellbinder's Perfectly Pierced Classic Window die using Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock and inked up using Ranger's "Old Paper" Distress Ink.

I brightened this violet bouquet up a bit using some brighter Copic greens.  For my sentiment, I stamped it using Memento's "Black Tuxedo" ink onto vellum paper and die cut it out using the Spellbinder's Perfectly Pierced Classic Window die.



Square Violet Birthday

For my final card, I again used Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock with Memento's "Black Tuxedo" ink and the "Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1" stamp set.  For my layered ribbon this time, I used the sheer green ribbon with some multiple strands of Flourishes Metallic Silver String. 

I used a variety of Copic Collections today to colour in all of my card images:

We Love Cards!!!

It's officially the first day of April!  Over at Let's Capture Our Memories (LCOM) we are having a WE Love Cards month.  Every Monday, one of our fabulous design team members will post a fun card related challenge for you!

Today's challenge comes from the talented Bev!  Bev's challenge is to create a card using the the letters from the word SPRING.  So for example;

S = stamps, stitching, stars, Stickles

P = patterned papers, purple, pink, punches

R = red, rounded corners, roses, ribbon

I = ink, indigo, inside too!, irises

N = newsprint, newspaper, negative space, neon

G = green, graph paper, greeting

Design Team Call - Let's Capture Our Memories

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about creating and inspiring others.  If you are not afraid to think outside the box, let loose and have fun getting creative with your projects, then you are perfect for our Let's Capture Our Memories Design Team!

Requirements:
Let's Capture Our Memories is seeking designers who are interested in working with a team to create a variety of projects such as layouts, cards and/or altered art.  You must have an active blog and you are willing to promote Let's Capture Our Memories on any online galleries/forums you participate as well as all aspects of social media and you are able to commit to a 4 month term from May 1, 2013 through August 31, 2013.

Responsibilities:
1)  Create 2-3 projects per month. 
2)  Post your projects on the Let's Capture Our Memories blog, your own blog, your Facebook page and/or Twitter account on a weekly basis.
3) Promote Let's Capture Our Memories through your own personal blog, Facebook, Twitter and any online forums you are able to.
4) You will create projects on a rotational basis as scheduled.  Send your "assignments" in a timely manner.
5)  Upload your Design Team projects into the LCOM gallery monthly.
6)  Some Forum participation will be required.

We are also looking for creative individuals to create sketches for our Design Team and individuals to create projects that involve a make/take, technique or tutorial including step out photos or video and instructions for our readers.
