This week I am your hostess and I am challenging you to create using the newest Pantone Color of the year... Radiant Orchid... but any shade of purple will do!

FTTC256 Purple
According to the Pantone View, "Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute™ has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist. A color that will resonate around the world, the PANTONE Color of the Year is a reflection of what people are looking for, what they feel they need that color can help to answer. Not necessarily the hot fashion color of the moment, but a color crossing all areas of design which is an expression of a mood, an attitude, on the part of the consumers."

I have to say, purple is my favourite colour so when I saw that the newest Pantone colour for 2014 was "Radiant Orchid" I was elated!  Any excuse to pull out some purple in my books is a good thing... so instead of card this week, I chose to make a fun tag.

I started my project with an Inkssentials Manila Craft Tag.  First I applied an airbrushed layer of two purplicious Copic Markers, RV19 & V09.  Then I applied some gesso through my Tim Holtz "Dot Fade" Layering stencil and I also airbrushed some rich purple Copic Marker through it too...
Click any image to ENLARGE it!

Then I took a piece of sandpaper and sanded the top layer of my gesso to reveal the white below...

Next, I took 4 layers of paper towel and dampened it with some Copic Blender Solution and "inked" up my "Vintage Wallpaper" back ground stamp and stamped it across my tag.  Since my back ground was made using Copics, it removed some of the Copic ink to reveal the wallpaper pattern of the stamp within the ink itself!  I LOVE this effect!

Next I inked up my "Chrysanthemum" images using Memento "Espresso Truffle" ink and stamped my flowers all over the tag.

Next I took my Copic Markers, RV19, V04, V09 & YR12, and added some shadows and shading to my Chrysanthemum flowers.

I took some Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink, inked the tag's edges and also added some white pen detail over top of my coloured flowers to make the flowers pop against my vivid back drop.

I stamped some subtle script onto the back ground of my tag and also a sentiment at the bottom.  All of these stamps came from the "Chrysanthemum" stamp set.

Last but not least, I took my Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink again and inked up the chevrons from the "So Distressed" stamp collection and added it to my tag.  I threaded some Peach, Mango Orange and some Lavender Seam Binding Ribbon through the tag's hole and tied on a bronze coloured brad to secure it together.

And volia... my tag was born!  There is nothing better than gettin' inky, especially with purple, my friends!  LOL!

Have fun using purple in your creations this week! This week, we have asked the Design Team to join us in celebrating the colour purple. Take a moment and leave some lavender love on each one of our designers this week!

A GIVEAWAY!

To celebrate this week, as your hostess, I'm giving away TWO stamp sets!  I have a number of Flourishes stamp sets in my possession and TWO lucky COMMENTERS on TODAY's post will win a stamp set each!  All you have to do for a chance to win, is simply leave me a comment below.  I will announce a winner on my Timeless Tuesday post next week.  Good luck!
