Timeless Tuesday: Love & Life

Howdy all!  Happy Tuesday!  This week for our Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes we are talking about all things NEW!  I mean it is the New Year of 2013 isn't it?

For our challenge this week, our lovely hostess for FTTC202, Denise Marzec, is challenging us to make a card or project that says "NEW"; use some NEW Flourishes stamps, take an old Flourishes card you've made and make a NEW one with a few changes/improvements, etc.  The possibilities are endless!  Have fun!!!

Here is the card I created for this week's challenge...

 Life & Love
I decided to try a NEW technique to me that I thought looked great... I made a Double Flip or Swing Card.  You can check out a similar tutorial at Splitcoaststampers on how to make it here.

I first started off by cutting out the card base, a piece of Flourishes Classic White Cardstock cut at 5x7.  Then I scored my card base at 2 3/4 and 4 1/4 using my Scor-Buddy.  Then I took my Flourishes Tailor-made Die by Spellbinders, "Classic Window" and cut the flipping shapes on the card front and back from my card base.

Before I folded my card base into it's Z-fold, I took some Ranger's Distress Ink in "Dusty Concord" and stamped the large clematis from the "Butterflies and Blossoms" stamp set in opposite corners of my card base.  I quickly coloured them using my Copic markers; BV31, RV32 and V12 from the Lilac Copic Collection .

Then I die cut 4 more pieces of cardstock; one in Flourishes Classic White Cardstock for stamping, one in dark purple cardstock from the Color Made Easy - "Crocus" Cardstock Collection for the front page, one piece of Clear Cover Cardstock and a final piece in kraft cardstock.

For the front of my card I took my dark purple die cut and stamped the sentiment from the "Hearts and Flowers" stamp set using Versamark ink and then I added white embossing powder and heat set it.  I adhered it to the front panel of my card.

I then stamped a variety of butterflies from the "Butterflies and Blossoms" stamp set to my white cardstock die shape and then masked them off. I used my Copic air brush system to ink up the back ground.  Then I took my kraft layer and cut the number "2013" out using my Klic N'Kut machine. I then glued the Clear Cover Cardstock on the back of it.  I took the kraft and clear cardstock layer and lined the back edges with foam adhesive, poured some glitter onto the coloured butterfly layer and carefully lay the kraft side on top to create a shaker for the inside of my card.  I then adhered it in place on the inside of my card.

Inside....

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you'll join us this week for our NEW inspired challenge!

With Sympathy Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone!  Sadly enough, today I am making sympathy cards.  Yes... it's never a fun task that's for sure but I do hope that the recipients appreciate the time I have taken to make them a personal card.

I chose to use this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch for my card creations.  Click the image below to take you to the original blog post.

Each of my three cards are alike but have some subtle differences.

Double Bow
Yellow Calla Lilies

Single Bow

For my focal image and sentiment, I used the "Calla Lilies" stamp set from Flourishes.  The greeting inside, also from the same stamp set, reads:
May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead.

Which one is your favourite?  I think my favourite is the last one.

Supplies:
stamps:  Flourishes (Calla Lilies)
cardstock:  Flourishes Classic White Cardstock, Papertrey Ink, Coredinations

Love Letters & Cookies!

Hey everyone!  Today I'm playing along with the Flourishes team for the January Release Week Challenge!  Click here for all the rules and instructions.  This month's challenge is a broad one that’s all about LOVE — use love as your theme, use letters as a focal point, or use the colors of love in shades of pink and red.

So here is my love inspired creation using some fun shades of love...

Cookie Bouquet

For my card, I first started out by created a fun heart edged circle on my Klic N'Kut machine.  I cut it out of Flourishes "Color Made Easy" dark red cardstock from the "Poppy" collection. Then I designed a number of other circles with in that circle using the gorgeous medium and dark purples from the "Crocus" collection.

Then I cut a circle of Flourishes Classic White cardstock using Spellbinder's Classic Circle dies and stamped my cookie bouquet image from the "Love Sweet Love" stamp set in the center using Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink.  I then coloured my image using a variety of Copic markers; V12, V15, V17, R17, R27, E27, E31, E34 and RV21.  Since the cookies have smooth icing on them, I added a little bit of a shine to them using a Sakura Glaze pen.

Make sure you check out the DT designs for this challenge! They are fabulous!!!  Hope to see you join in the fun this week!

My favourite TTC challenge this past year was FTTC189, it was the THINK PINK challenge!  And here is the card that I created for that challenge...

Pink Poises
This week I used a variety of fun stamps to create my card.  For my focal image I started by stamping the large bouquet from the "Summer Blossoms" on to Flourishes Classic White Cardstock using Memento "Rich Cocoa" ink.
To create the pink back ground behind the lattice and also the strip of pink paper across my card, I used the stamps, "I Love Roses" and the "Sweet Nature" stamp sets to create a subtle tone on tone back ground.

To add some shine, I added some Glossy Accents to my flower centers as seen below...

For my focal image, I used a variety of fun Copic colours...

Here are the Flourishes Copic Collections which I used...
