World Card Making Day ~ Howdy Partner!

  

Welcome to World Card Making Day at Flourishes 2013!  We thought it would be especially fun and fitting to extend a challenge that has to do with your corner of the Cardmaking World! So, here goes:

Create something that represents or is 

inspired by your state or province. 

We're leaving the interpretation up to you but you could be inspired by your state or province flower, your slogan, the scenery you'll find there, colors, or your state or provincial flag. Then make sure you describe to us what the connection is! Fun right?

I am lucky enough to have lived in 3 of Canada's provinces in my lifetime.  I was born in Ontario, moved to British Columbia 5 years ago but currently reside in the glorious province of Alberta now!

Alberta is know for so many different things; mountain views and prairie grasses, cowboys, beef and grain!  We are lucky enough to live only 30 minutes east of Alberta's largest city... CALGARY!  Otherwise know as "Cow Town"!  And if you know anything about Calgary... you'll know it's known around the world for one thing...

The Calgary Stampede!  

The Calgary Stampede draws in hundreds of thousands of people each summer to enjoy all kinds of events like steer wrestling, chuck wagon racing and rodeo.  The iconic symbol of the Calgary Stampede is one fabulous looking white cowboy hat!  Yup... and quite often if you are a visiting dignitary to Calgary, you are presented with such symbol...

So I decided to make that white Stetson a focal point on my card today!  This cowboy hat image comes from one of my favourite Christmas themed stamp sets by Flourishes, "Cowboy Christmas".  Yeehaw!

I stamped my cowboy hat image twice onto Flourishes amazing Classic White Cardstock first using Memento "Black Tuxedo" ink.  I cut out just the hat and paper pieced into right back on to the rest of the image, popping it up with some foam tape.

I coloured my image using the following Copic Collections today:
