Something Old, Something New...

... Something borrowed and something blue!

Yup... it's Thursday! That means a new challenge over at Creative Prompts 4U!

For this week's challenge, we had 4 of our Creative Crew each pick a piece of the challenge. Here is what each member choice to challenge you with:

Nicole: use twine
Ro: use masking tape
Regiane: use tissue paper
Natalie: use paint

And this is what I came up with using all four creative prompts:

Bride

supplies: patterned paper, My Mind's Eye; flowers, leaves, Prima; twine, Stampin' Up!; tape, key, inks, Tim Holtz; alphabet stickers, Pebbles; paint, US Art Quest; embossing powder, silver pearls, Walmart; brads, Making Memories; trims, Maya Road; other, tissue paper.

This photo (courtesy of my Mom) is of my sister and her bridesmaids (I'm the 2nd from the left) on her bed at home the morning of her wedding day.

I used tissue paper to create my own distressed roses. The funky masking tape is a product by Tim Holtz (which I am now addicted to!). I used some watered down black paint and gave my page a few splatters... and the twine is a Stampin' Up! product with I love!

The "Z" in my layout is for my sister's new last name. The letter stickers I used by Pebbles, all have beautiful wedding related sayings and words on them and I knew they'd be perfect for my layout.

Come and check out what the rest of the Creative Crew has done with these creative prompts this week. If you participate along with us and link us up to your own creation using this week's prompts, you could win a prize package from this month's sponsor, My Little Bit of Whimsy!

Sketch Time!

This week on the Let's Capture These Sketches blog we have a guest designer, Rochelle Spears. She has a great sketch and challenge to create your own homemade flower. You can see Rochelle's sketch HERE.

Here is what I created with Rochelle's sketch and challenge:

First Day of School

supplies: patterned papers, Lucky 7 Factory, Crate Paper; stickers, die cuts, Crate Paper; tools, Klic N'Kut, Martha Stewart scoreboard; other, thread.

That cool alphabet paper is by our sponsor this week, Lucky 7 Factory. They have provided this month's winner with a package of their beautiful new autumn papers.

For this week's challenge, Rochelle challenged us to create a homemade flower. I created a simple pleated paper flower and added a bunch of fun theme related die cut images to it.

Come and check out my my fellow Sketch Team has done with the sketch and challenge for this week. If you play along, you too could win some great papers to play with by our sponsor Lucky 7 Factory.

A Stampy Showcase & a Birthday Bash!

Today, on the myStamp BOX blog, the entire mSB team is sharing some fun projects made using these amazing stamps. Come and check it out TODAY!

Here's the project that I shared...

Since my 5 year old started Kindergarten 2 weeks ago, we have already received an invite to a fellow classmates birthday. Instead of buying a card, I thought I would whip up a fun and personalized card for his little birthday buddy.

I used 2 fun birthday stamps sets for my card & coordinating envelope; Birthday Numbers and Birthday Balloons. Since his buddy is turning 5, I used the "5" from the Birthday Numbers set. I added some fun balloons to the envelope and also to the inside of the card as well from the Birthday Balloons set.

Just a simple card but so easy to make. Even my son could have made something this simple!

Don't forget to check out my fellow mSB team creations today on the mSB blog!

Vivid Music & Life Lessons

This week at Creative Prompts 4U, it was Sue that posted a beautiful album cover by Melee. You can see this visual prompt here.

I took the basic design and attempted to replicate it... well sort of... with my Klic N'Kut, some beautiful stamps and lots of SmoochSpritz colours! This this is SO glittery in real life!!

Photos by Heidi Brand.

The rainbow of colour around the large blue and green circle appears to be paint but in fact, it is a texture medium that I airbrushed with colour from my Copic air brush.

Those fun banner pieces are from my new myStamp BOX set called "Pennants" which is due to release soon. I stamped them in black ink and spritzed them with SmoochSpritz (Clearsnap) sprays to macth my concentric circles.

I also used some cool Chalk Board spray from Tattered Angels in "charcoal" to spray down my doily. Those pretty ferns are stamp from Flourishes. When I went to sew my inner smallest circle to it's black cardstock mat, I discovered that the stitching had gone crazy on the back so I decided to advantage of the boo-boo and pulled a few loops to peek from behind. I think it's a neat effect.

supplies: stamps, myStamp BOX, Flourishes; cardstock, Bazzill, Gina K. Designs; flowers, misc.; brad, BasicGrey; ink, Copic, Memento; misting sprays, Clearsnap, Tattered Angels; texture medium, American Traditional Designs; doily, Paula Dean; alphabet stickers, Scenic Route, Pink Paislee; tools, Klic N'Kut machine; other, thread.

Come and check out what my fellow Creative Crew did with this week's creative prompt.... HERE!

Sketchy Saturday

It's Saturday.... time for a new sketch and inspiration at WeScrap!

This week, Tara has created a fabulous single page sketch for you to create with and I got the honour of creating an example to show it off! Here is Tara sketch here and this is what I created using her sketch as inspiration.

First Snow

Since I wanted to showcase the diamond pattern throughout my layout, instead of using a solid mat behind my photo, I created a thin cream mat and then stitched a snowflake transparency over top of it so you can still see the back ground.

Inside the pocket, I added some cool mica flakes from Melissa Frances and also 2 different sizes of clear glitter from Martha Stewart. I wanted a snow effect!

supplies: cardstock, Bazzill; patterned papers, alphabet stickers, shaped stickers, BasicGrey; tool, Klic N' Kut machine; mica flakes, Melissa Frances; glitter, Martha Stewart; pen, Sharpie; transparency: Making Memories; other, thread.

Come and join us today at WeScrap! I'd love to see what you create using Tara's sketch!
