Papertrey Ink - Blog Hop

I love the Papertrey Ink stamps! And I'd forgotten that they were having a Blog Hop (details here) this evening so this was my 30 minute throw together card.... after 2 cards trashed!

The challenge this month was use a transparency. I used Hambly Studio's grid transparency as my card base and sewed on some Heidi Swapp mini star transparencies that had each been stamped with different images from the PTI set "Butterfly Kisses".

I cut my moon shape using my circle Spellbinder's Nestabilities and then embossed it using my Cuttle bug embossing folder.

I embossed the background white paper with my scalloped sqaure Nestabilities and then before removing the die, I inked it with a soft blue Colorbox chalk ink for a nice soft sky feel.

I stamped the sentiment from "Out on a Limb" set using my Ranger Archival ink.

I inked my stars with Staz-On and sewed them with orange floss for an added touch of colour.

I added a ribbon bow and it was complete!

Thanks for visiting my blog this evening! Have fun blog hopping!

Some Birthday Photos

Here are a few photos from this afternoon. Below is a photo of my Mother-in-law, my son and Todd's grandma. We sat in the pretty little sun room at the end of the hallway where my husband's grandmother lives.

Doesn't she look fabulous for 92?

This is my son "blowing" on the bright red gerber daisy he picked out for Great Grandma all by himself at the florist. I think he has great taste!

Thank for looking!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma!

Today we're off to Chatham to visit DS's Great Grandma. She's turning 92 today! We have some pretty long life lines on both families so it should be interesting to see how old I get and how old DS gets one day.

We're going with my sister-in-law Heidi and my neice. It'll be nice for Spencer to have her to entertain him for a bit.

Hope you have a great day!

A Handsome Cover Model....

Don't ya just love the new look of the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine? And who is that handsome fella on the cover?

Why... it's my nephew, Derrick! Cool, eh? Congrats Heidi on an awesome cover picture.

And just so ya know Heidi.... I also got a chance to compete for the cover layout... so check out page 8 when you get your copy. No cover for me... maybe another time. SURPRISE HEIDI!!!!

Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine hits your local scrapbook stores on June 21st. Make sure you get a copy as they tend to fly out of the stores.

Don't have a store near you that carries them? NO PROBLEM! The magazine also has a FREE download section for the magazine on their website.

Enjoy!!

Wild Weather & some Random Chaos

The last two days have been filled with some wild weather here. We had an unconfirmed tornado go over the house. It took a lot of the roofing equipment DH had up there right off the top... including a shovel, a broom, an entire roll of tar paper and some shingles. We had some thunderstorm warnings today and DH came home early to get the roof shingling done. He's up there pounding as I type this!

Random Chaos [19] is up. Our challenge this week was to use the colours pink and orange. I made a page about my sister, Christie, "29 & Beautiful".

Thanks for looking!

Card Lovin'....

I found this new blog and they provide 2 different card sketches as inspiration. The site's called 2 Sketches 4 You.

Here are my 2 cards! Thanks Laura & Kazan!

Just Monkeyin' Around!!!!

I am absolutely addicted to stamping so when the Hero Arts stamping company started a blog not too long ago, I just love visiting, watch all their videos and I love playing along with their weekly challenges.

This past week, the challenge was to create using circles. The one stipulation is that you must use a minimum of one of the Hero Arts stamps.... in this case I used MANY!!!! All the images on the card below are Hero Arts.

The fun thing is that I.....

....won third place in the circle challenge contest. I won a gift certificate to get some more Hero Arts goodness!! Check it out here!

How cool is that????

Hope you have a great weekend!

Card from across the Ocean!

I signed up for an international card swap through Karin at "first-swap-blog". We each got assigned 2 people to make cards for and they had to be either "summer" or "flower" themed. I got to make cards for two lovely ladies in Holland.

Here is the first card I received for the swap... from Jolanda in Holland... it's it gorgeous!!! Check out her blog, Fabulous Creations.

Thank you Jolanda for a beautiful card! It certainly brightened my day! Thank you!!!

Scrappy Shopping!!

One of my close friend's took me and my son out for lunch today. It's tradition to take each other out for lunch for our birthday's. We typically go to Boston Pizza... it's our one splurge meal of the year. It was delicious!

Just before lunch I took a quick look through our local scrapbook store, The Paper Pickle. I went in looking for some stamps that I need for an up coming contest this summer. I indeed found them but I walked out of the store bearing the NEW stamps made by one of the newest companies to the stamp world, Unity Stamp Company. I can't wait to use this new system... especially the large back ground stamp... YUM!!

The system uses a specifically designed stamping base system... it's an acrylic base with wood sides. They have a series of different sized blocks and their wood stamp system slides into the block base. If you notice in the corner of each stamp there is a letter. These letters correspond to the certain block base they slide in. I can't wait to play!
Happy stamping everyone!
