Chibitronics - Vampire Light Up Card

Howdy and happy Monday!

Today I'm over on the Chibitronics YouTube channel sharing a fun and interactive Halloween card tutorial today.

I began my card by created the die cut vampire from Sizzix from the "Costume Party, Colorize" die set.  I die cut all the elements from white cardstock and used some Copic Markers to color all the layers and adhered them together.  I have also cut out some black cardstock and patterned papers from the Simple Stories "Spooky Nights 6x8" paper pad using the Catherine Pooler Designs "Scallops and Dots Dies".

For the card today, we're using the Chibitronics "Circuit Sticker Effects", the "Heartbeat" sticker, Copper Tape and Yellow LED light stickers from the "Red, Yellow, Blue MegaPack".

Here is a close up of the circuit I created for the vampire's eyes.  I just LOVE those cool "Effects" stickers and can't wait to use up the other 3 effects found in the package (blink, fade and twinkle).

Once my circuit was complete, I used adhesive foam tape to build up the background of the panel to allow for the 3 dimension of the battery housing.  Since foam does not conduct electricity, you can place it right over top of the Copper Tape.

And VOILA... a light up Vampire!  Make sure to check out the video for a final peek at those blinking eyes!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my fun card tutorial today!

Introducing… Potted Primroses!

It’s Day 5 of our fabulous clear stamp reveal for Power Poppy!  Today is the final day of sneaks from the Bloom Brigade and all 5 stamp sets go on sale TOMORROW!  So jump on the creative bandwagon and grab some wonderful acrylic goodies tomorrow!

Today, we’re introducing… Potted Primroses!

This set has some of the happiest little Primrose posies for you!  Their happy little faces are just certain to brighten someone’s day.

For today’s card, I wanted to keep my card design fairly simple and really show off all those bright little Primrose blooms so I created a cluster of flowers on the top corner by masking my stamps and kept the bottom clean for my sentiment to pop.

For the finishing touches to my card, I added some clear sparkly sequins and also some Sakura Glaze pen to the sentiment and some of the flower centers.

Thanks for joining us today!  I hope you’ll return tomorrow for our final reveal Blog Hop.  The Bloom Brigaders will showing off some of their favourite creations using the 5 new stamp sets.   PLUS… all of those stamp sets will be official in the Power Poppy Store and available for purchase!

Now… off you go on a little floral adventure through all of the Bloom Brigade blogs…

Happy hopping!

TGIF everyone!  I don’t know about you but I’ve had a tough week this week.  Just haven’t been feeling tip-top.  The weather has been cool and rainy here in Southern Alberta and my head has been pounding most of this week – it doesn’t exactly promote a lot of creative time.  It doesn’t help that I’m sleeping well or at all at night!

I did get a chance to dabble in some water colour though on the weekend and I created this fun card for you today!

I began with some Tim Holtz Distress Water Color Paper and some Letraset Aquamarkers for my card creation.  I stamped the lovely bouquet from the “Countryside Bouquet Deluxe” using some Ranger “Wild Honey” Distress Ink.  Then I used an acrylic block and scribbled my Aquamarkers on to it and used it as a palette to watercolor my stamped image.

I took a lot of time and painted each petal individually using the inks from the markers and my water brush.  I just adore the end result.

Just in case you missed it, Power Poppy took center stage over at the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog with their Card Cafe Thursday here! And today, there's another surprise! Head on over to their blog HERE to see how YOU could win a $25 gift certificate to the Power Poppy Shop!

Now join the remainder of the Bloom Brigade with me and take a stroll on over to all of their blogs.  You’ll surely be inspired!

An Antique Bouquet of Roses

Hi all!  Welcome to another fabulous Friday challenge over at Power Poppy!

Once again, we’re asking you to share your Power Poppy creations with the Bloom Brigade.  There is no specific challenge for this week but we do ask that you use one of our fabulous images and share your creation, including a link to this challenge, on your creation.  Simple as that!

For my card today, I thought I’d do a little experimenting.  I coloured my large bouquet from our newly released digital stamp set, “Arranging Roses” using a variety of Copic Marker colours and then I set my panel up for a little distressing.

I distressed the edges using my paper distresser, then I inked the edges with some dark blue, pumice and black Ranger Distress Inks.

Here’s a close up of my coloured image…

Have a gander at what the rest of the Bloom Brigaders have done with these amazing Power Poppy images…

Tutorial: Reverse Center Step Card

Happy Wednesday!  My creative mojo has been in full gear this week!  I saw the new Merry Monday Christmas Card Club Challenge #77 come on Monday and knew exactly what I was going to do with it!

I loved the colours so I pulled out some of my newest Flourishes stamp sets, "Home for the Holidays" and "Holiday Topiaries" and set out to make a modified version of a Center Step Card (see instructions below).  I knew these two sets would look super cute together!  Since the topiaries were on a little bit bigger scale than the door front image, I placed them up front and the door on the back panel.

For the door, I actually stamped my image twice and fussy cut out the garland, light, wreath and doormat and popped them up from the door base.  I coloured all of my images using Copic markers - super fun!

To complete my card, I added a cute sentiment from the "Home for the Holidays" stamp set along with the matching swag and patterned papers I used on the front of my card.

Here's a side view of my card to see that my square panel actually sits back from the 2 side panels; the opposite of a traditional Center Step card.

Here's a quick sketch of how I made this card.  It's super easy to make and it makes a finished 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 sized card to fit in a square envelope.
Click to save to your computer.

I hope you get a chance to try out this card.  They are very dimensional and have a lot of space to decorate and add that personal touch.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today I'm sharing the latest sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories!

This week's fabulous sketch was design by our ever talented Isabelle Doucette!

And here's what I created using Isabelle's sketch this week...

This layout contains pictures of some of the waterfowl I've seen on the Lake this past month.  We have had visits from a Northern Shoveler (Spoonbill), a Sharp Shinning Hawk, a few pairs of Hooded Merganzers and LOTS of Common Golden Eye Ducks.  These are only a handful of the kinds of waterfowl we've seen!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!

Timeless Tuesday ~ I'm Seeing Red!

Hello everyone!  Hope your week is going well!  It's that time of week again... time for another amazing Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes!

This week our challenge comes from the super talented Denise Marzec!  Denise is challenging us today to create a project with the colour red (FTTC208).  See... super easy!!

Red Bouquet

I began my card this week by first loading up my Flourishes Winter Bouquet SVG File for my digital die cutting machine.  I cut the largest file using Flourishes Classic White Cardstock.  Then I stamped the large bouquet image using Memento "Black Tuxedo" ink into my die cut.

I coloured my image using a variety of the Flourishes Copic Collection sets:

I mounted my pretty bouquet onto of the Flourishes Tailor-made Die, Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames.  I used a bit of Ranger "Fired Brick" Distress Ink to highlight the embossing left by the die.

I finished off the front panel of my card with some Flourishes 'Color Made Easy' "Poppy" cardstock, some "Basque Red" seam binding ribbon, some fun patterned paper and some cool die cuts.

I wanted to incorporate the outside of my card to the inside of my card so I used a few of the same elements of my card front on the inside.

I used the simple greeting of "Congratulations!" from the "Sentimental Favorites" stamp set to finish off the inside.

Come along and play with us this week!  Let's see a little RED on your cards and projects.  Link up your creations to the Flourishes blog for a chance at winning a little guilt free shopping!

Now, take a peek at what my fellow Timeless Tuesday designers have created for today's challenge…
