A Blue & Kraft Christmas!

Yes… I said Christmas!  I’m not sure why but I just couldn’t resist stamping and colouring up a holiday card this week.  It was calling me to create something for the cold weather season.   I mean, it’s above 30 degrees here around Calgary and has been all summer.  Typically we get 1 or 2 hot days but not weeks at a time.  We’re praying for rain as the fires in Montana have crossed the border into lower Alberta and we still have many fires still burning away in British Columbia.

Now, let’s get on with the snow…. I mean… the show!

This week I decided to grab 2 fabulous holiday stamp sets, “Spice It Up” and “Heaven & Nature Sing” from Power Poppy.  These two stamp sets are sure to evoke all those smells of the holiday season.
I used my Ranger Distress Inks to create my blue blended back ground.  I used Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch and a little bit of Black Soot… add a few flicks of water and… Voila!

I used Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils to colour in my entire stamped image.  I just could resist going with some different colours for the holidays and chose blues and oranges to use.

Here’s some close ups of my detailed images…
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils: White, Spanish Orange, Yellowed Orange, Orange,
Poppy Red, True Green, Chartreuse, Apple Green, Grass Green, Olive Green, Dark Green,
True Blue, Ultramarine, Violet Blue, Indigo Blue, Sienna Brown, Black, Silver

I chose to feature stamping and colouring on kraft cardstock this week as this is what our September edition of the “Power & Spark Challenge” is all about.  To see all the details and to play along to WIN a $50 gift certificate to the Power Poppy Shop, click here.

Now check out what my fellow Bloomies have created for you to check out today…
Allison Copeyou are here!

Thanks again for joining me today.  It felt so good to create this week again.  And to all our Texas and Florida fans…. my prayers go out to you!

Beautiful cards Allison, I live in BC on Vancouver Island, we haven't had many fires here but the interior of BC has been burning since July 10 and there has been a state of emergency in that region for weeks, we've had rain yesterday and today - I've been doing a rain dance for weeks, finally someone listened! We went about 75 days without rain and it's been about 90 degrees for weeks on end, not used to this kind of heat here on the coast!

Ack... I love the blue! This is beautiful and I adore the way you combined these two stamps. Beautifully done! We had a bunch of smoke ourselves and it has finally cleared out the last few days. The air quality is back to some what normal.

Oh, Ally! I LOVE the blue and orange, especially with this beautiful spiced orange! LOVE your coloring, and thanks for sharing the pencil colors. My DH bought me the whole set for Christmas, and I love them. What a beautiful background and fabulous layout! YOU.ARE.AMAZING! Hehe! You always inspire me. Well, I'll be praying for you to get rain, because I know the fires have been so bad. Makes the air quality terrible too. Stay cool and wet, my friend! Hugs! xoxo
