Iris Inspired and a Tutorial!

Flourishes-Favorites

We’re wrapping up our January New Releases at Flourishes and we’ve had a fantastic time showing off these beautiful sets to you this week. Today the Senior Design Team brings you one more round of inspiration using any set from this release that their little hearts desire. We’ve loved the variety this month’s sets have had to offer and we’re looking forward to showing you more!

Did you happen to see Katie Sim's stunning cracked glass iris card for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week at Flourishes?  If you haven't, click here.  I was so inspired by it's beauty that I just had to create a cracked glass beauty myself to share with you today!

For the finishing touch on the front I wrapped my little "Festive Fushia" Seam Binding Ribbon with a sparkly gem brad and added some simple pearls.

Above is a close up of my card front eye-candy... I used the beautiful frilly iris image from the new "Flowers for Jan" stamp collection.

I've actually chosen to share a quick and easy tutorial on how to create this beautiful effect with readers over at on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.  You can see how I created this little gem by clicking HERE.

I also wanted to show you the other layers of my card.  For my shaped map panel, I die cut a Spellbinder's "Labels 25" shape and stamped my script from the new "Wild Roses" stamp set and also my "Antique Map" image across my Classic Ivory Cardstock.  I used both "Tea Dye" and "Walnut Stain" Ranger Distress Inks for stamping and distressing my panel.

I couldn't leave the inside of my card blank!  I had to match it up with the front so I die cut some pretty details from a piece of Classic White Cardstock, backed it with some Classic Kraft Cardstock and then stamped the script again from the new "Wild Roses" stamp set and I also stamped my iris image along with a pretty sentiment from the "Flowers for Jan" collection.

Take a gander at all the beautiful creations from my fellow Design Team members... don't forget to leave them some love too!

Oh my word. This is so stunning, esp the soft water color-y feel to the irises. And the brown map is great for men and travel themes.
