Timeless Tuesday ~ Cards with Cardboard

Howdy fellow stampers!  We have been enjoying the blustery winds of winter here in Southern Alberta for the last few days.  Typically, on a day like that, I'm hunkered down in my craftroom enjoying some stamping time.  I certainly enjoyed my time all day yesterday doing just that!  I hope where you are, you are safe and warm too!

Welcome to the first "Timeless Tuesday Challenge" at Flourishes for the month of March. Our hostess this week, the ever talented, Cindy Haffner, has challenged us to create a card or project using "embossing with cardboard" (FTTC210).  Basically, we want to see a project using cardboard.  If you don't have any cardboard, grab your crimper and use that on your card this week.  And if you don't have a crimper tool, we'd love to see some dry embossing!  Super simple right?

I began my card creation this week by created a card base using Flourishes Classic Kraft Cardstock as my card base.  I then grabbed some Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock and I stamped the beautiful cross with lilies image from the "He Is Resin" stamp collection using Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink - my FAVOURITE ink!  I then coloured my image using coloured pencils and fussy cut it out.

I created my card front using multiple patterned papers, some ink and some thread and then I die cut out a window and framed with an ornate oval frame.  I backed the window using some super fun cardboard textured cardstock I found in my stash and I added my cross image to the front.

I finished off the card front using some cream coloured seam binding ribbon from the Color Made Easy - Rich Brown collection and some fun Kraft Jute to create a bow. I die cut a cute little tag from the Flourishes' Taylor -Made Classic Tag die set and stamped the greeting, "Blessings", from the NEW Flourishes stamp set, "Easter Wishes".  I finished off the bow with a fun 'crystal' coloured "Sparklet" from KaiserCraft.

I decided to finish off the inside of my card as well this week.  To match the front face of my card, I die cut another ornate oval from some Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock and I used the off cut from the front window of my card for a place for my stamped greeting.  For the greeting, I chose a verse from the NEW Flourishes stamp set, "Easter Wishes".  I added another single lily image from the "He Is Resin" stamp collection to bring in the lily theme again.

Thanks for joining me today. Come along and play with us this week!  Let's see a little cardboard (or crimping or dry embossing) on your cards and projects this week.  Link up your creations to the Flourishes blog for a chance at winning a little guilt free shopping!

Now, take a gander at what my fellow Timeless Tuesday designers have created for this week's challenge…

What a gorgeous card, Ally! I really like how you die cut a window from the oval die and the cardboard behind the cross really makes it stand out. The inside of the card is just as pretty as the outside!!
