For our challenge this week, our lovely hostess for FTTC202, Denise Marzec, is challenging us to make a card or project that says "NEW"; use some NEW Flourishes stamps, take an old Flourishes card you've made and make a NEW one with a few changes/improvements, etc. The possibilities are endless! Have fun!!!
Here is the card I created for this week's challenge...
Life & Love
I decided to try a NEW technique to me that I thought looked great... I made a Double Flip or Swing Card. You can check out a similar tutorial at Splitcoaststampers on how to make it here.
I first started off by cutting out the card base, a piece of Flourishes Classic White Cardstock cut at 5x7. Then I scored my card base at 2 3/4 and 4 1/4 using my Scor-Buddy. Then I took my Flourishes Tailor-made Die by Spellbinders, "Classic Window" and cut the flipping shapes on the card front and back from my card base.
Before I folded my card base into it's Z-fold, I took some Ranger's Distress Ink in "Dusty Concord" and stamped the large clematis from the "Butterflies and Blossoms" stamp set in opposite corners of my card base. I quickly coloured them using my Copic markers; BV31, RV32 and V12 from the Lilac Copic Collection .
Then I die cut 4 more pieces of cardstock; one in Flourishes Classic White Cardstock for stamping, one in dark purple cardstock from the Color Made Easy - "Crocus" Cardstock Collection for the front page, one piece of Clear Cover Cardstock and a final piece in kraft cardstock.
For the front of my card I took my dark purple die cut and stamped the sentiment from the "Hearts and Flowers" stamp set using Versamark ink and then I added white embossing powder and heat set it. I adhered it to the front panel of my card.
I then stamped a variety of butterflies from the "Butterflies and Blossoms" stamp set to my white cardstock die shape and then masked them off. I used my Copic air brush system to ink up the back ground. Then I took my kraft layer and cut the number "2013" out using my Klic N'Kut machine. I then glued the Clear Cover Cardstock on the back of it. I took the kraft and clear cardstock layer and lined the back edges with foam adhesive, poured some glitter onto the coloured butterfly layer and carefully lay the kraft side on top to create a shaker for the inside of my card. I then adhered it in place on the inside of my card.
Inside....
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you'll join us this week for our NEW inspired challenge!
