Designing with Your Kids Craft Supplies

PROJECT ONE:

Tonight I'm going to show you how to use some of the things your kid's use to craft with! So pull up a chair for a moment and browse the step by step tutorial of how to use your children's Crayola Washable Markers!

For my first project I grabbed:

• myStamp BOX "Colorful Companions" stamps
• my son's Crayola Washable Markers
• my acrylic block
• some white cardstock; Prism

To start, I used the markers to colour the surface of my acrylic stamp:

I stamped it immediately on my piece of white cardstock.

I did this repeatedly with different inks and different stamp images. Some of the more subtle stamped images were stamped after my first stamping to get the more more transparent look to them.

And here's the card I created with my stamped images:

Orange Beauties

I used the same technique and created a purple and blue card:

Lavender Lovelies:

This technique is SO EASY that even your kids can do this! And the washable markers don't stain or damage your stamps so there's no fear of damaging your stamps. TRY IT... it's FUN! Just like my little artiste.....

Okay... so your face isn't a great place to start but oh well! They're washable so......


PROJECT TWO:

So for my SECOND technique using the Crayola Washable Markers, I got out:

• myStamp BOX "Garden Sketches" stamps
• my son's Crayola Washable Markers
• Memento black ink
• my acrylic block
• a paint brush
• a mini paint tray (a paper/plastic plate will work for this)
• water
• some white cardstock; Prism

I took the markers and coloured on the plastic tray inside each dimple. I coloured around quite a bit leaving lots of ink on the plastic.

I carefully added only a few drops of water to each colour of ink to make it more liquid and translucent, like water colour paint.

I stamped a few images from my "Garden Sketches" stamps onto my white cardstock using my black ink. I wasn't worried about placement because I knew I was going to cut them out.


Using my paint brush, I "watercoloured" each image. To make the colours stronger, I painted over those sections again and again until I got the desired effect. Then I hand cut out all my coloured images.


Here's the very simple card I created using my "water coloured" effect:

Purple Pretties:

To create the stamped mini floral back ground, I used the technique from the first project using my mini flowers from the "Garden Sketches" stamp set and my purple marker. I "stamped off" off first to get rid of most of my ink on my stamp in a scrap piece of paper and then stamped on to my purple cardstock to get a more subtle purple flower pattern.
