My Sister

Well for those of you that don't know, my sister Christie was diagnosed with a atrial septal defect late last year. She has been going for more detailed tests to diagnose the size of the defect. Finally after an MRI, the problem was viewed as large enough to effect the workings of the heart. So yesterday she had a procedure done to close the hole between the upper chambers of her heart. This almost non-invasive procedure sends a camera and a special folded disk up her artery and vein in her leg to her heart while they repair it internally. She was awake the whole time and came through it with flying colours! Thank goodness for technology!!! She's restricted for her lifting and her level of physical activity for the next few weeks but she'll be coming home today!
