Here's the second of the 2 noon-time challenges to celebrate the Flourishes newest release! It’s a limited supply challenge that revolves around 2012!

So, here’s your recipe:

You can only use 2 colors.
You can use 0 bling.
You must use at least 1 embellishment.
You can only have 2 layers (not including your card base)!

Year of the Dragon

This is the YEAR of the DRAGON according to the Chinese Zodiac calendar. I was actually born in the year of the dragon myself so I know this is going to be MY year! LOL!

This challenge for Flourishes is all about using the colours in the image above. Here is what I created...

It feels SO good to be scrapping again! I've made myself get my work stuff done for the restaurant first and then I've actually gotten some time to create with paper again. It feels great!

This time, I was inspired by the CASE Study blog and their Muse this week, Amy Scheffer, does some AMAZING work! This week's CASE Study is this card by Amy...
So this is my CASE of Amy's card...

Pear Blossom

I used the amazing kit "Astoria" from WeScrap to make my card! It's filled with blues and greens of beautiful tones!

Here's a closeup of my central details...

For my embossed detail, I just took the cardstock circle I die cut from my other lacy circle and embossed it with a Spellbinder die and added a twine tied button. Such a simple add on but effective!

Opposites Attract!

This week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge involves opposites. For the challenge you had to create 2 cards that were opposites in their appearance using the same exact image.

Here's my sneak peek...
The image I chose to use is the evergreen & roses image from the Flourishes "Petals & Peace" stamp set.

My first card is a nontraditional coloured Christmas card. I used pinks, teals and white as my colour palette. I rounded all of my corners. I water coloured my white embossed image using Tattered Angels' mists. I also used a pin and some bingy flowers!

A Rosy Christmas

For my second card, I decided to remain monochromatic. So I embossed my image with silver embossing powder and left it uncoloured. I did add a little bit of ink around my edges and then created a layered look with simple white rustic cardstock from Papertrey Ink.

Even though life is super busy for me (see here for details), I haven't forgotten about the scrapping world entirely! As my one and only scrappy commitment, I have been asked to join the Flourishes team and create a monthly column and challenge surrounding stamps and scrapbooking.

And Life Goes On!

Life... has a funny way of happening when you least expect it!

For those of you that know me well, know that I have worked in the food industry almost all of my life. I have dedicated most of my time working with food and the industries that surround this area.

Since the age of 15, I have strived to reach the personal goal of someday being professionally involved in the food related industry at sometime during my lifetime and I am honoured to say that that day has finally arrived. I have taken the plunge and I am in the process of becoming an owner of a local restaurant in the town with which I reside here in BC. It has been a life long dream and one I hope that I will continue to excel at for a very long time to come.

So with this exciting news comes news of sadness too. Knowing my business is now my "baby" and needs my constant monitoring and attention, I have opted to step down from most of my craft related sites and responsibilities.

It is with great sadness that I step down as President of WeScrap.com at the end of the month. After many years, I am going to pass off this title to a wonderful scrapbooker. I'm sure she will take it on and make it her baby just is if it were her own. Thank you to Tara Thynne and Sarah Nolan over the years. I couldn't have done it without either of you by my side.
Secondly I sadly step down from my DT Coordinator position for the myStamp BOX company. I've had the honour of working with Bettina Von Gross, the owner of mSB, since the inception of her design team and I wish her every success and happiness with her business ventures in the future. I wish Jolene Johnston all the best in her new role as DT Coordinator for the new team.

I too have stepped down from the design team for Scrapbooker's Paradise effective immediately. I want to thank Laura for allowing me to be a part of the Playing in Paradise team over at Scrapbooker's Paradise. I have loved with working with you and the rest of the PPC team over the last year. Best wishes to the entire team!

And finally, I will let my term at Cardabilities run out at the end of the month. I am honoured to have been part of this amazingly talented group of ladies for the past 3 months. Thanks to Karan for all of her hard work and organization!

Thanks to all my fellow scrapbookers who have supported and followed me over the years! I have come to call a lot you family!

Scrapbooker's Paradise Challenge #31

It's Friday!! It's time for another fabulous Playing in Paradise challenge over at Scrapbooker's Paradise!

This week's challenge comes from the lovely Nancy! This week's challenge is all about FLOWERS!

Here's the card created featuring flowers...

Daisies
Here's how I achieved the look of my card...

First I cut a piece of canvas paper out and slathered a thin layer of moulding paste across the bottom.
Then I took this pretty daisy stamp from My Favorite Things stamp set called "Flower Silhouette" and pressed into the wet moulding paste.

Then I took a variety of shimmery mists and added them all over my dry paste back ground. I used the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist mist colours: "Apple", "English Ivy", "Iridescent Gold", "Turquoise Blue" and "Electric Blue".

For my final step, I used some shimmery watercolour paints and added some white over the daisies petals, some soft orange over the flower centers and some green on the flower stems.

I added a quick verse from the same daisy stamp set by MFT to the front using some black tuxedo Memento ink. It reads;

A real friend is not one

who only entertains you

but one who cares about you,

one who will be there when you cry.

Try this technique sometime... it's a BLAST!

Timeless Tuesday 133 ~ Guest Designer

Howdy all! Happy Tuesday! It's time to join the Flourishes team for one last time this month for another fabulous Timeless Tuesday challenge.

This week we have a fabulous BINGO inspired challenge brought to you by the talented Silke. For this challenge, using the same rules as the game Bingo, pick ANY 3 squares in a row (across, diagonal or down) and create a project using those 3 items.

BINGO CARD

Orange Fern

Supplies: cream cardstock, stamps, Flourishes; orange cardstock, Bazzill; ink, Stampin' Up!; die cut shapes, Spellbinders; distressing tool, Tonic; other, gold ribbon.

For my card this week, I chose to use the outside row going down:
I started off die cutting my circular cardstock pieces out of Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock. I left my Spellbinder's circle die on my central circle of ivory cardstock and masked off one portion of the circle using a simple piece of Post-It note paper and then stamped and inked my fern images from the "Ferns & Fiddles" stamp set.

I distress my stamped circle and then matted it with a simple distressed scalloped circle of orange cardstock and then placed that image right over top of my lace ornate card base.

A simple and EASY card to create!

Back to School!

Today, Sue Sykes and I are blogged all about Back to School! over on the myStamp BOX blog.

For my Back to School! project, I decided to create a layout featuring my son's first and last day of school photos.

First Day & Last Day

For the "&" I used the Fleurishing Punctuation stamp set.

For both of my journaling spots, I used the large journaling block from the Your Story set. I also used the "remember" square and then labeled them using the Mini Alpha's stamp set... the perfect size for this job!

To indicate the grade the photos were taken for, I used the "K" from the Letterboxes alphabet stamp set; K for Kindergarten.

I also used the Mini Pennants and the Neigborhoods stamp sets for a touch of additional embellishment.

Little Drummer Boy

Every month Flourishes has a Christmas Spirit Challenge. These challenges always get me into to the Christmas spirit. I was even tempted to put on some Christmas tunes as I played with my stamps... I know... CrAzY!

This month's challenge was to make a creation that is inspired by your favorite Christmas carol. Well, my favourite holiday carol is "The Little Drummer Boy" so that's what I used as my inspiration for my card this month.

I'm all about interactive cards so I decided to make a surprise pop up card. For a quick and easy tutorial, check out the Splitcoast tutorial here.

The drummer boy, front sentiment and instrument images, I used the "Drummer Boy" stamp set. The larger greetings are from the "Holiday Greetings" set.

I added some tiny gold adhesive pearls to my image to add further dimension. My drummer is also pieced... he has up to 4 different layers in some places.

It's Friday!! Yippee! I just arrived back from Ontario yesterday from a very short visit with my family and friends. Feels good to be home!

Since it's Friday, it's time for another fabulous Playing in Paradise challenge over at Scrapbooker's Paradise! This week's challenge comes from the lovely Allison! She's got a fabulous sketch challenge for you to create with this week!

I decided to mix it up this week and use Allison's sketch to create a layout. My husband and I spent 10 glorious days in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island and I took some great photos of him on the beach that I was dying to scrap so they worked perfectly with this week's challenge...

I used a number of new products just released from this past summer; Core'dinations embossed cardstock, K & Company's Smash "Like This " tape, Candy Dots by Pebbles and some beautiful stamps by Technique Tuesday, "Are We there Yet?" stamps by Ali Edwards.

We are looking for new Designers to join our team. If you are enthusiastic about our stamps, love to stamp, are a good team player, and know a thing or two about blogging, you are the right match for us! We are interested in designers with a variety of styles who can creatively showcase myStamp BOX designs in their layouts, cards, altered art and other projects. No previous design team experience is necessary. International applicants are welcome to apply.

Our Term is 6 months from October 1st, 2011 to March 31th, 2012.

Team requirements:
* 4 projects per month
* 1 blog entry per month including good quality photos of a project and instructions/tutorial
* Upload all projects to the myStamp BOX website gallery and other online galleries

For my card this week I used the beautiful runiculus flower from the Sweet Nature set. I stamped it on Flourishes Classic White cardstock and then I used my Copics to colour it in and then added a touch of fine glitter to add a touch of sparkle! My framed sentiment is from the Humming Along set. I didn't have any lace that suited my card so I used a lacy edge punch instead!

A Touch of Autumn

Today the myStamp BOX design team is showcasing some fun projects on the myStamp BOX blog. I thought I'd use some beautiful autumn inspired colours in my project so I created a card using autumn as my inspiration:

Leaves & Butterfly

supplies: stamps, myStamp BOX (Floating Leaves, Repeat After Me, Colorful Companions, Funky Flowers); patterned papers, Crate Paper; inks, Memento, Copic, Ranger; tools, Klic N'Klic; edge punch, Fiskars; cardstock, Bazzill, Gina K. Designs; mists, Tattered Angels; ribbon, Offray.

I started off stamping and misting my leaves and acorn from the Floating Leaves stamp set. Then I stamped my butterfly from the Colorful Companion set and used my Copic airbrush to colour it.

I cut a rounded top, like a window, for the center focal point of my card using my Klic N'Kut machine. Then I stamped the star burst shape from the Funky Flowers set in yellow ink all over the window.

To finish off the front panel, I stamped the zigzag stitching stamp from the Repeat After Me set.

Howdy all! Happy Tuesday! It's time to join the Flourishes team again today for another fabulous Timeless Tuesday challenge again!

This week's Timeless Tuesday challenge is all about FRUIT! Yes... fruit! We want to see you use a fruit image or paper with fruit in the design on this week's creation! Super fun!

One of the best things about summer is the fresh berries we have grow here in the mountains... especially the raspberries! So that's what I chose to show case on my card this week. The gorgeous images and sentiment all are from the Flourishes "Berry Sweet" stamp set. Here's my card using fruit...

Here's a close up of my raspberry image. I used Memento ink to stamp on my Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and then coloured in my image using my Copic markers.

It's Tuesday and that means time for the first official Timeless Tuesday challenge for August. This month I get the great honour to be joining Flourishes and designing along with their amazingly talented team.

My favourite flowers are 2 toned tulips. I almost never see them but I love them and wish my hubby would surprise me in the Spring once and awhile with a bouquet of them!

For my card, I used the cup and sentiment from the Mix n'Mugs set and I used the sweet tulips from the April Showers stamp set. The banner pieces to make the "sun rays" around the cup are from the Birthday Pennants set.

For my creation, I used the green items from this week's challenge. And here's the card I created...

To create my focal image, I stamped my Flourishes Ranunculus flower from the new "Sweet Nature" stamp set using tuxedo black Memento ink and then I created a mask and used my Copic air brush and air brushed around the flower with several shades of cool grey.

Just Add Water!

Howdy all! It's the 30th and new sketch has been revealed on the Cardabilities blog today!

This month's second is sketch has so many possibilities. With a blank canvas, anything is possible! Here's what I did with this month's sketch...

Water Colour Poppies

supplies: stamps, Flourishes, Papertrey Ink; ribbon, KaiserCraft; button, Maya Road; gems, Prima, KaiserCraft, Hero Arts; inks, Versamark, Ranger; embossing powder, Hero Arts; cardstock, Bazzill; water colour paper, Fabriano; mists for colouring, Tattered Angels; glitter, Perfect Pearls; other, thread, twine.

I created the base panel of my card using water colour paper, heat embossed stamps and mists... yup mists! I took a few drops of the Glimmer Mists colours: Flower Power, Tiger Lily and Red Velvet. I used a water brush and applied the colours after misting the entire embossed image using just plain water.

Here's what my central panel looked like after painting my flowers using the mist colours.

To finish it off, I sprayed the entire piece of paper again and added the Glimmer Mist colours of Turquoise Blue and Electric Blue using my water brush. Then I stamped a subtle script over top of the entire piece using a Papertrey Ink stamp.

I Treasure Our Friendship

This week I used a variety of beautiful Flourishes stamp sets: Seaside Life and the newly released Sweet Nature.

I stamped all my blue images using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in "Broken China". I then used my water brush and painted the back ground in with the "Tumbled Glass" Distress ink.

That cute wooden button is by Maya Road. The cute white pearls are by KaiserCraft.

Scrapbooker's Paradise Challenge #25

Happy Friday everyone! Check out the latest Playing in Paradise challenge today over at Scrapbooker's Paradise!! This week's it's my turn to host the latest challenge and I chose a photo of a beautiful quilt to inspire the team this week...

This week I was inspired by the shape of the plus sign within the quilt so I created a card using the plus sign design.

First I designed the plus sign pattern in my Klic N'Kut software and cut it out of Bazzill "Avalanche" white cardstock.
Then I took 4 patterns of the "Odds & Ends" 6x6 collection by Cosmo Cricket and cut squares of the papers to back the open areas of the cardstock.
I matted it using another fabulous pattern from the 6x6 pad and stuck everything to a simple card base... VOILA! A simple but fun card!

Let's Get Sketchy!

Over on the myStamp BOX blog today, the mSB team is gettin' creative with sketches! Here's the sketch one half of the team has been given to create with:

Here's what I did with my very own sketch:

Silly Faces

supplies: stamps, myStamp BOX; cardstock, Bazzill; inks, Ranger Distress Inks, copic;
pen, Sharpie; tools, Klic N'Kut machine; mists, Tattered Angels.

I used a LOT of fun stamps and cool techniques to achieve my layout for this sketch today.

Here's how I created some of the elements on my page...

First I started by creating my 3D circle effect. I physically measured the diameter of the circles from the Funky Circles stamp set and then created a white cardstock panel with all kinds of different sized holes to match my circle sizes. I carefully stamped all the different sized circles using a variety of Ranger Distress Inks.

I popped up the panel above the stamped panel using LOTS of foam adhesive (aka the blue strips)! The light blue circles are from using my Copic air gun and a light blue Copic to get a "bubble" like effect.

Next I built the strips that I put across the page to go under my photos. I started using my Neighborhoods and Graphic Borders to create the top one (see image below).

The second one is using the You Name It stamp set.

For the blue scallop I designed it using my Klic N'Kut software and made little mustaches in the scallops. I stamped the star burst from the Funky Flowers set on this.

For the final border, I wanted to create a pattern that would show through the little mustache cut outs so I stamped the checkerboard pattern from the Repeat After Me stamp set using orange ink.

*Just so you're not wondering... I didn't bother designing anything with the third scallop since I knew my photos would hide it!

For my background paper, I used the Seal It! set to create the circles and then framed it up with one of the zipper stamps from the Repeat After Me set. It turned out SO cute!

For part of my title, I created the word "SILLY" using the Tall Outlines set and then stamped over it with a subtle blue ink the little mini set of polka dots from the Itty Bittys set!

And my journaling went on a stamped journaling tag from the Just Add Notes stamp set.

It's Saturday and today I get to share a sketch for WeScrap's Sketchy Saturday!

Yippee! This is my first official card for Cardabilities!

This month Karan has designed a fabulous card sketch. I just adore this sketch because it could be so versatile!

Scrapbooker's Paradise Challenge #24

This week it's Dana's turn to challenge us over at Scrapbooker's Paradise for the Playing in Paradise challenge.

Dana is challenging you to create a project using your favourite colouring medium! Yup... that could be paint, inks, pens, pencil crayons, wax crayons... whatever floats your creative boat!

My all time favourite colouring medium is my Copic markers! Yup... I have about 3/4 of the colours offered and I'm always looking to add to my collection. So that's I chose to use this week for my card...

For You

supplies: stamps, Flourishes; cardstock, Bazzill; shaped dies, Spellbinders; gems, Queen & Co.; inks, Copic, Memento, Ranger.

My central image is from the new Flourishes stamp set, "Zinnias" and the sentiment is from their "Taglines" stamp set. I stamped my image using my favourite Copic-friendly ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I coloured my image using a variety of Copic Sketch markers.

All of the shaped die cuts I used for my card were made by Spellbinders: Classic Squares, Fleur de lis Doily Accents, Labels 9 Nestabilities and Labels 14 Nestabilities.

Awhile ago I found this cool challenge blog called Catered Crop but I just never made any time to participate until today.

Here's how you play...
Use any of the ingredients (themes, colors, techniques, shapes, etc.) in the recipe given to make your project. You don't have to use all the ingredients or the same brands. Just pick a few ingredients and then add your own spices to cook up something uniquely yours.

Here are this week's challenge ingredients. The green highlighted ingredients were the ones I incorporated into my card.

Ingredients:

Butterflies... o'Butterflies!

Happy Friday everyone! I've been working on projects all week for future posts and finally got to working on this week's Summer Card Camp 2011 colour combo #2:
So for my card I decided to stamp all my butterflies on white cardstock. Then I masked them all off and used my Copic air brush to spray a rainbow hued back ground using this week's colour scheme.
I also incorporated my card for this week's Timeless Tuesday challenge over on the Flourishes blog. This week's challenge was to create a card using the word "FRIEND" on it.

Chicks Rule

I made my card into an easel card. Super fun to make because decorating the inside is half the fun!

My tag and decorative flourish are both Spellbinders dies: Grommet Tags and Parisian Motifs Shapeabilities. I also used the "Classic Ovals" for my oval design.

To round all of my corners I used my trusty medium corner rounder by EK Success. I also used a fun Friskars punch called Treading Water. I used a strip of it to hold up my card.

Here's a close up off my little girl from My Favorite Things, called "One Sweet Chick". I paper pieced her using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, BasicGrey's "Hello Luscious" line of patterned papers and some Copic Sketch markers to colour her face, hair and legs.

Summer Card Camp: Week #1

Howdy all! It's so good to be back creating again! This is the first time I have touched paper and ink for over a week.

A few weeks back I signed up for the Summer Card Camp 2011 and this week's challenge was to use the colour scheme shown below...

So at the last minute I threw together this fun card I think I'll send to my Dad. I'm going home for literally a 2 day visit in August so I'll get to see him then.

Cardabilities: Bugs & Blooms

I'm joining along with the Cardabilities team for this month's sketch challenge. Even though I don't officially start on the Cardabilities team until July 15th, I thought I'd support the final sketch of the current card team.

Jingle Bells! Batman smells....

It's Christmas time over at Playing in Paradise this week! Challenge #21 is all about Christmas!

So this is the card I came up with for this week's challenge...

All Hearts Come Home for Christmas

For my card this week I used BasicGrey's "Jovial" kit. I just adore this colour palette! I paper pieced my entire image from My Favorite Things called "Sending You a little Christmas". To add some fuzzy detail, I added some Flower Soft to her boots and hat.

Here is what I did with my MYSTERY BOX…

I began with an idea of creating a little box that my son could have in the back seat of the Jeep that he could have a few car type games in. So this is what I came up with....

Car Fun Box

TOP

Stamp sets used: Graphic Borders, Splash Me a Little! alphabets, Neighborhoods)

FRONT

Stamp sets used: Graphic Borders, Passport to Adventure, Mini Pennants)

BACK

Stamp sets used: Graphic Borders, Passport to Adventure, Road Trip

Then once my box was decorated, I decided to create a few things to put inside.

First I came up with a fun magnetic alphabet board. I took piece of adhesive magnetic paper and applied a sheet of copy paper to its sticky side. Then I stamped the checkerboard edges using the Graphic Borders stamp set. I ten stamped all of my alphabets from the Royal Flush alphabet set. I made duplicates of some of the vowels and some of the more common other letters like "S" & "T".

Next I wanted to come up with a "car bingo" concept so I designed a VERY SIMPLE bingo card that would fit inside my box. "Spencer" is my son's name so that's why it says "Spencer's Car Bingo" on it.

Stamp sets used: She Says - He Says, Passport to Adventure, Itty Bitties, Abundant Blossoms, Royal Flush alphabets, Letterboxes alphabets, Symbols.

This is where you get to interpret the blocks. Here's just a few ideas for the card above...

K - find something that begins with "K"
3 cars - find 3 of something
cone - find something you can eat
leaf - find something green
girl - find a woman or girl
J - find something that starts "J"
hearts - find a heart shape
phone - find a phone

Here's a second bingo card...

Here's how I might interpret this next card...
