A Home Away from Home!

We're currently away on a mini vacation right now... in the very vehicle I'm showing you today... our Boler trailer!

This week was Heather's turn to share a sketch with the Let's Capture These Sketches team! You can see this week's awesome sketch HERE. Heather also challenged us to do our layout about something other than people or pets so I chose to talk about our little Boler.

Home Away from Home

supplies: patterned papers, brads, chipboard pieces, Bo Bunny; ribbon, WRMK; stamps, myStampBOX (snapshot), mini alphabet letters, Making Memories; letter stickers, Doodlebug; pen, Copic; die cut ticket, Sizzix; ink, Ranger; other, thread.

I couldn't resist using my new collection of Bo Bunny "Mama-razzi" line of papers for my page this week. They just suited the feel of my photos!

Sketchy Catch Up!

I forgot to post last Friday's sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches since we were out camping.

Last week Guylaine shared a fabulous sketch with the team and this is the layout I creating using some of the fun Bo Bunny "Peacock Lane" collection.

You see Guylaine's sketch HERE.

For my title, I cut the word STORM using my Klic N'Kut machine and then cut a black backer for it to make it stand out a bit from the back ground.

Let's Plant a Garden

Today on the myStampBOX blog, the entire mSB Team is showing off some fun creations using our myStampBOX stamps! You can see the blog post here.

My card is a fun one... a garden with a fun tag!

Miss You

supplies: stamps, myStampBOX (Funky Flowers, Small Greetings - Small Box); patterned paper, Funtape, Kiki Art; cardstock, Bazzill; pearls, Kaisercraft; embossing powder, Hero Arts; ink, Versamark; corner punch, We R Memory Keepers; die cut shapes, Spellbinder's; other, ribbon.

I first cut out my window using a Spellbinder's scalloped rectangle die. I then created a fun envelope out of a piece of vellum. I used Versamark ink and created my garden scene (using my Funky Flowers stamp set) and then added my white embossing powder to make it bright and bold.

I created a fun tag using some bold and bright Kiki Art papers (Hot Air Balloons). I stamped my simple greeting using my myStampBOX Small Greetings - Small Box.

I used the cut out shape from my window as a spot for journaling on the back of my tag. The fun mini swirls are another fun Kiki Art product called Funtape. This stuff goes on so smooth and so easily!!!

Make sure you mosey on over to the myStampBOX blog and check out all the other fellow mSB team creations today!!!

Choo! Choo!

This week had a super fun sketch from Tara at Let's Capture These Sketches. I love anything with a circle in a sketch.

You can check out Tara's sketch on the LCTS blog here. Tara also challenged us to use some kind of stitching on our pages.

Here's the layout I created using Tara's fab sketch...

No Longer A 'Lil Engineer

Supplies: patterned paper, chipboard pieces, tags, stickers, adhesive ribbon, BasicGrey; cardstock, Bazzill; mini letter stickers, Making Memories; alphabet stickers, American Crafts; die cut track, Kustom Die Kuts; pen, Sharpie; other, thread, ribbon, staples.

Here are a few close ups...

I attached my track die cut by Kustom Die Kuts using simple staples.

I used a fun stitch around the main piece of patterned paper of my layout.

I built up my photos using foam adhesive so I could stick my cute BasicGrey journaling tag behind one of them.

Make sure you check out the Let's Capture These Sketches blog for my fellow DT creations using Tara's sketch.

This week it was Debbi's turn to challenge us and she chose a collage of 9 beautiful wedding cakes. You can see the image here.

I took inspiration from the cake on the left side, middle row. I loved the ribbon wrapping of the cake so I used the same idea for my little anniversary card...

0021: Mission to Create

I'm having a great time creating along with my extremely talented Mission to Create design team! This week we have a fabulous guest designer, Natalie Elphinstone. You can check out Natalie's blog here for lots of fabulous pieces inspiration.

Here are this week's concepts:
Deborah - use a bingo card
Jocelyn - use tissue paper
Nicole - Ink it up!
Vanessa - Sanded Photo(s)
Natalie - handmade flowers

Here is the card I created using all 5 aspects of this week's mission:

GROW

Supplies: cardstock, Bazzill, Prism; patterned paper, Bo Bunny; stamps, Flourishes; bingo card, Jennie Bowlin; inks, Copic, Versamark, Ranger, Stampin' Up!; buttons, Jennie Bowlin, BasicGrey; pearls, Kaisercraft; edge punch, EK Success; brad, BasicGrey; twine, Stampin' Up!; glitter, Ranger; tool, Klic N'Kut machine; embossing powder, Ranger; other, tissue paper, thread.

Here's the inside...

Here's a close up of the front panel. I stamped and coloured in my pansy image by Flourishes using Copics and then I inked up the panel. Then I sponged on a layer of Versamark ink and sprinkled a layer of UTEE. Once I heated the UTEE, I pressed a layer of crinkled tissue into the hot UTEE and then carefully added another layer of UTEE over top of the whole thing again. This gave my image a vintage and distressed feel...

One piece of our mission this week was to make a homemade flower so this is how I made my own pansy.

Pansy Tutorial

Step 1: Cut or punch 3 butterflies shapes and one circle with a small hole (approximately 1.5 inches in diameter) punched in the center. Cut 2 smaller petal shapes from one of the butterfly shapes, one from each wing.

Step 2: Cut your other 2 whole butterflies in half. You will only need 3 large halves for your flower.

Step 3: Ink up your individual petals, concentrating your ink towards the bottom of the "V" of each petal.

Step 4: Distress the edges of all of your petals. I used my Tim Holtz distress tool for this.

Step 5: Apply Scor-Tape (or another strong adhesive) to the backs of each petal, right down the center.

Step 6: Adhere 2 of your 3 larger petals over lapping to your circle. Use the hole in the center as your guide to glue them down.

Step 7: Adhere your 2 smaller petals at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions; overlapping the 2 large petals at the top.

Step 8: Adhere your final large petal at the bottom of the circle. You should have this configuration when you are complete:

Step 9: Add fine, detailed lines using a fine tipped pen to each petal randomly. Add glitter to the top 2 petals. Add a coloured brad to the center and your homemade pansy flower is complete and ready to adhere to your next project!

Make sure you take a moment to visit the Mission to Create blog and check out what the rest of my fellow card team members have created this week!

Webspiration?

It's Thursday!!! That means a new prompt at Creative Prompts 4U!

This week, it was Nicole's turn to share a creative prompt and she chose an image from an internet site, Maria Filo, as the inspiration piece this week. You can see the image posted here.

Here's is my take on Nicole's chosen image. I chose to stick with the images colour scheme and a few of the images details like the clouds.

Shine

supplies: stamps, myStampBOX; patterned paper, Echo Park; cardstock, Bazzill, Couture Cardstock; pen, Ranger; ink, Copic, Versamark, Stampin' Up!; spray, Tattered Angels; pearls, Queen & Co.; alphabet stickers, paper ribbon, button, BasicGrey; twine, Stampin' Up!; other, ribbon, thread.

I used a variety of my myStampBOX stamps throughout my layout.

If you look ever so closely at my back ground, there are X's and O's on it. I used the alphabet stamps from the Mini Alpha stamp set and some Versamark ink.

For the clouds, I used my Versamark ink, some white embossing powder and my Wishing You Sunshine stamp set.

For the main word of my title, I cut out my word using my Klic N'Kut machine after I stamped a pattern of dots from my Itty Bittys stamp set on my yellow cardstock.

The tag is also a fun stamp from myStampBOX. It's from the Road Trip stamp set. I masked off the inner tag lines and then stamped the sun image from the Itty Bittys stamp set.

I added one final detail to my page... a date stamp from the Passport to Adventure set.

Check out the rest of the Creative Crew's creations for Nicole's challenge here!

Overall I love my challenge page! Come and play along with the rest of the Creative Crew this month. You could win a gift certificate to the Let's Capture Our Memories store just by sharing your inspirational project! Good luck!
