It's Sketch Time at LCTS!

It's my turn to share a sketch as part of Let's Capture These Sketches this week!

And here's what I did with my own sketch...

New Addition to the Family

With a new kitty in our house as of this week, I just had to use the new cute line of patterned papers by BasicGrey called "Max & Whiskers".

Here are a few close ups of my design...

That fun black lacy die cut is a new product from Kustom Die Kuts! I just love it's cool design! I resized the "KDKpage06 Retro Flower Lace" down to about 9x9 and cut it apart to achieve the squares.

Here's what the design looks like under my photos before I fixed up all the stray threads from stitching on each square of lace paper...

I hope you'll join the LCTS team this week and complete a page using this week's sketch! I'd love to what you create using it!

Our prize this month is a $25.00 (CAN) gift certificate to myStampBOX donated by moi!.

In Awe of Alphas!

I just love using alphabets! So this month, I thought I'd showcase some uses of some of the fun alphabets that myStampBOX makes!

Here are a few sneaks peeks...

Let's Frame it Up!

It's Thursday so that means... a new creative prompt at Creative Prompts 4U!

This week we have a guest designer, the lovely Vanessa Rupp-Haven who has given all of the Creative Crew a fabulous prompt this week... frames! So we had to somehow incorporate frames into our creation.

So I dug through my stash of stuff and found this huge glossy off-white frame from Chatterbox and some cool frame transparency paper from Hambly Studios to use. And here is the page I created...

My Romeo

supplies: paper, Creative Imaginations; glitter cardstock, Doodlebug Designs; frame, Chatterbox; transparency, Hambly Studios; flowers, pearls, leaves, Prima Marketing; mini letter stickers, chipboard alphabets, Making Memories; paint, Shimmerz; pink pearls, Hero Arts; other, thread.

I painted some of the details of the frames on the Hambly transparency to make the details show up a little better. The paint crackled a little but I think it matches the feel of the layout.

I also used one of the long springs of flowers from Prima to wrap around the frame.

Make sure you check out the entire team's creations here!

PRIZE FOR MAY:
Our prize this month is a $20.00 (Canadian) gift certificate to your favourite on-line store!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Use the challenge posted above and link your NEWLY CREATED creation to this post. Please post a DIRECT link to your blog entry and not just your blog.
You have until the last day of the month, MAY, to submit your creation based on the challenge.
This month's winner will be randomly selected of all the participant entries for the entire month.

Good luck!

Another Mo's Challenge Card!

This week's challenge over at Mo's Challenge Blog was to create a card using flowers.

So I browsed through my Mo Manning images and came across this one of a little girl I believe is title "Between".

I knew I wanted to use my new 6x6 pad of BasicGrey "Cappella" papers so found some Copic markers that matched the pattern paper and I coloured her using them.

I scored the white cardstock using my Martha Stewart scoring board to get the grid effect.

I like the soft end effect of my card!

A Spooktacular Scene!

One of my parts of stamping is creating a scene. Nothing beats grabbing a bunch of different elements and creating a fun landscape or view!

Here's how I made my scene:

1. I cut a spooky tree, mini frame and ghost from coloured core cardstock using my Klic N'Kut machine.
2. I created a Post-it Note mask circle for my moon and applied it to my white cardstock card base.
3. Using my Copic airbrush and multiple shades of orange Copic, I sprayed on my sky.
4. Then I cut curved pieces of BasicGrey patterned paper for my hills and stitched down each top.
5. Before adhering my first (top) hill, I traced the shape of the hill and carefully stamped my multiple houses using my myStampBOX "No Place Like Home" stamp set.
6. I then stamped on my textured clouds using my "Wishing You Sunshine" stamp set from mSB.
7. I adhered my tree, ghost and mini frame over the landscape and added my greeting, "Happy Halloween" from the "BOO!" stamp set from mSB, spritzed the entire card front with Glimmer Mist and then attached it to my edge punched card base.

A fun & super easy card!

It's Sketchy Saturday!

Yup! It's that time at WeScrap... Sketchy Saturdays! Every Saturday the iTeam gals of WeScrap create a new sketch and a new example.

This week, it was my turn to create a sketch...
I chose to design a fun 4 photo sketch with lots of layers and lots of space for journaling.

Here's what I created with my own sketch... (I rotated the sketch to get my overall design)

Boys Toys

supplies: stamp, myStampBOX; patterned papers, die cuts, My Mind's Eye; adhesive lace, BasicGrey; cardstock, Bazzill, Couture Cardstock; ink, Memento; silver pearls, Basic Grey; tools, Klic N'Kut machine; other, thread.

I used one of the fun stamps from the "Bold Blocks" stamp set from myStampBOX. I just love this versatile set!
I added some fun silver pearls from BasicGrey to look like fasteners within my die cut gears. I designed and cut the overlapping gears using my Klic N'Kut machine.

I also used my Klic N'Kut to design and cut out my simple title. It's so much easier to work with a title that's completely one piece of cardstock rather than 8 separate pieces!

I hope you'll join us at WeScrap in the Sketchy Saturday's forum here and come and create with my sketch!

Happy Scrappy Saturday everyone!

Let's Paint the Town... Bright!

It's Thursday so that means we have new creative prompt posted up at Creative Prompts 4U!

This week's challenge is by Nicole, my co-owner of CP4U and it's a fabulous and bright colour challenge this week!

I just loved the bright orangey-red with the calming blue and yellow colour combo! So fun... so I had fun with my own page this week!

Self Love

Here are a few close up of my floral clusters...

I went bold and bright with all my floral and embellies to match the bright colours of the challenge.

I hope you'll join the Creative Crew this week for our challenge! I can't wait to see your work!

A Bit of Manly...

Flourishes is in the midst of showcasing all of it's newest releases right now... so yummy... and they also have posted a challenge for the release this week... "Make it Manly"!

So I created a cute card for my Dad for Father's Day next month using their "A Man's View".

The special part of this card is that you spin the dial on the right side of the card and you can see multiple Father's Day quotes appear within the TV screen in the stamped image.

So lovin' this card...

Some of the quotes include:

Fatherhood is pretending you love most is soap-on-a-rope. ~Bill Cosby

Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown. ~unknown

Old as she was, she still missed her daddy sometimes. ~Gloria Naylor

I also took the time to paper pierce the chair and lampshade. I coloured the remainder of the scene using my Copics.

Sketch Time!

It's Friday so that means a brand new sketch from the Let's Capture These Sketches team!

We have a brand new team starting with this gorgeous sketch by Guylaine! I absolutely love single photos sketches... don't know why but I do!!! And since we are a brand new team, we all decided to create with the first official sketch for the new third term!

Here is Guylaine's beautiful sketch...

And this is how I interpreted it...

Where the Wild Things Roam

supplies: patterned paper, Fancy Pants; butterfly, Jenni Bowlin; cardstock, Couture Cardstock, Bazzill; ribbon, American Crafts; other, thread.

The layouts a few quick and favourite shots of Spencer at the Calgary Zoo last spring. I designed some fun palm frawn lacy die cuts on my Klic N'Kut to use under my matted areas. Just something simple.

Bears & Bouquets

I have been putting off making my Mother's Day cards all week. I just wasn't in the mood to make cards yet... I know! Weird eh?

So I finally sat down and stamped out my card images on cardstock and got them both coloured last night. I took all morning and actually finished creating them... finally! Late is better than nothing right?

So here's my first card... to be sent to my Mom.

These cute little bears is stamp by Stampavie (Penny Johnson) called Visiting Friends. So I couldn't resist also creating both my Mother's Day cards with Stampavie images so I also incorporated their challenge for this week... GLITTER! Gotta love glitter!

*Mother's Day greeting by myStampBOX, "Straightforward" stamp set.

Above is a picture of the inside of my card.
Below shows the glitter I added to some of my little Prima roses. I also used a glitter paper (off white) by Doodlebug Designs and I added some glitter to the bouquet of roses the little bear is holding!

supplies: stamps, myStampBOX, Stampavie, Flourishes; patterned paper, BasicGrey; cardstock, Bazzill, Prism; ribbon, Stampin' Up!; die cut tag ends, Spellbinder's; glitter cardstock, Doodlebug Designs; flowers, Prima Marketing; ink, Momento, Copic, Stampin' Up!; edge punch, EK Success; other, Stickles by Ranger, thread.

And the second Mother's Day card I created is for my Mother-in-law.

This cute little teddy is another Stampavie stamp set by Penny Johnson called Bear Flowers. It took me quite some time to colour just the little teddy image. I wanted her to look fluffy so I took them time and layered... and layered on the different shades of dusty brown colour.

*Mother's Day greeting by myStampBOX, "Straightforward" stamp set.

Here's a close up the little bear's bouquet. I used a little bit of Ranger's Stickles on the roses along with other places on my card.

supplies: stamps, myStampBOX, Stampavie, Flourishes; cardstock, Bazzill, Couture Cardstock, Prism; ribbon, Stampin' Up!; die cut shapes, Spellbinder's; ink, Momento, Copic, Bazzill, Stampin' Up!; edge punches, EK Success; tool, Martha Stewart Score Board; embossing folder, Cuttlebug, pearls, clear embossing powder , Hero Arts; other, Stickles by Ranger, thread.

I hope you have a great weekend and an even better Mother's Day!

CP4U #14: Kazoom! BOOM!

This week our challenge came from the lovely Angie! Angie's creative prompt was to use her provided sketch (which reminds of comic strips when the blast goes off!... hence the name of the challenge this week!) and to incorporate at least 2 stamps within our design. Click here to see Angie's sketch.

Here's what I did with Angie's challenge...

Tea for Two

supplies: lace paper, Kustom Die Kuts; die cutting machine, Klic N'Kut; stamps, myStampBOX (Review Time, Road Trip), Glitz Design, Verve; ink, Stampin' Up!, Copic, Memento, Martha Stewart; cardstock, Bazzill, Couture Cardstock, Prism; ribbon, Kaisercraft; mists, Tattered Angels; patterned paper, Fancy Pants Designs; pearls, Prima Marketing; twine, Stampin' Up!; other, thread.

I used a more simplified shape for my sketch instead of the starburst type shape on Angie's sketch.

To get my vintage photo look, I grabbed 3 of my favourite photos from the tea party and edited them to be a more rich sepia tone. Then I grabbed a fun digital vintage portrait cards image (from Designing on the Edge) from my digital stash and created a photo montage in Photoshop. I printed them out just as you see them above on photo paper and fussy cut them out.

The lace paper is a new Kustom Die Kuts design called Tea Party Lace. I cut it out in white cardstock and then used a series of Glimmer Mists and a Hero Arts script stamp to distress it a bit.

The cute little tea pot and tea tag are from a fun Verve stamp set called A Cup of Life.

I created the little ruffle of ribbon by running a quick stitch up and down the length of a piece of teal coloured ribbon and then pulling one end of the string until the ribbon gathered back on it's self. So fun and EASY to do!

What page would be complete without some yummy pearls and some stitching! These pearls are a Prima Marketing product that I adore!

I hope you'll join the Creative Crew this week and come and play along at Creative Prompts 4U!
