sdrawkcab....BACKWARDS!

Yup... backwards and inside out! I found Spencer one day, after I got out of the shower, had been a good boy and tried to dress himself. I couldn't resist taking some photos of his great attempt... even his underwear was on backwards! So funny!

So I decided to use my photos for this week's sketch, created by Darlene for Let's Capture These Sketches. You can check out Darlene's sketch on the LCTS blog here. This month's challenge also come with a colour challenge. This week's challenge was to use tans and reds. I used some tan for matting and stitching.

Sdrawkrab (backwards) & Inside Out

I used a bunch of my myStampBOX stamps on this layout too; the "male gender" symbol & man stamp from She Says - He Says. I also added some fun circles behind the symbols from the Funky Circles stamp set. The film strip stamp on the red cardstock is from the new stamp set, Snapshot. And the fun blocks with the cute words are from tanother new stamp set, Bold Blocks.

Here's my journaling...

I love how this layout turned out! Did you see those cute robots on the back ground paper too? Adorable!

supplies: patterned paper, sticker, Imaginsce; cardstock, Bazzill; stamps, myStampBOX; buttons, BasicGrey; inks, Memento, Stampin' Up!; tools, Klic N'Kut; journaling spot, Little Yellow Bicycle; other, thread.

PTI Blog Hop: Sweet Pea

It's the 15th of the month and that means the PTI Blog Hop! Here's this month's blog hop challenge:

This month we're calling all button lovers! Now's your chance to explore the world of possibilities that buttons hold! From borders to backgrounds, accents and embellishments, or even incorporating them into stamp images like any of our Button Bits stamp sets. From paper projects to home decor to jewelry and more, the sky's the limit! We want to see all your very best creations using buttons and the inspiration we will gain from each other should prove to be truly enticing!

If you'd like to participate along with the rest of PTI lovers, come and visit the PTI forum for all the festivities, here.

For my creation, I wanted to create a cute little onesie for a friend who is overdue with her first bundle of joy. Since she and her husband do not know what gender the baby is, I decided to create in green!

To create my back ground, I first started by creating the striped band across the body using my Background Basics: Retro stamp. I carefully masked off the bottom of the stripes and stamped on the pretty small violet from the Year of Flowers: Violet stamp set. Then I masked off the top of the stripes and stamped the little leaves from the Turning a New Leaf stamp set.

Then I stamped a single violet on some white cardstock and added a little Copic airbrushed colour and fun button to the center. I attached a little bit of mini trim along the base of the stripes and then attached my single violet using pop dots.

I added a little sparkle using some fine glitter to the violets with a little dimensional Copic colouring to the flower petals. I added some "bottom closure" buttons to the base of the card... and VOILA! A green cutesy onesie... fit for either a boy or girl!

Gracious Grids

Today's the 8th challenge reveal over at Creative Prompts 4U! This week Nicole challenged the Creative Crew to use a modern piece of art by Peter Maycock as our inspiration. You can view that piece of art here.

Here's what I was inspired to make using Nicole's challenges this week...

Nasturtium Quilt

I used a beautiful nasturtium flowers stamp from Flourishes as my focal point and I built my little quilt squares using BasicGrey's "Kioshi" line.

Here's a close up my tiles and my zig-zag stitching. I think my Mom would appreciate this card since she's quilter.

supplies: stamp, Flourishes; patterned papers, BasicGrey; cardstock, Prism, Bazzill, Core'dinations; inks, Memento, Copic, Ranger; white pen, Ranger; edge punch, EK Success; ribbon, Stampin' Up!; other, thread.

Purpley Easter Greetings

Over at the Couture Cardstock blog today, the challenge is to create something for someone else (something you are going to send away; like a card, tag, a postcard, etc.). So I decided to pull out my Pure Innocence little girl from My Favorite Things again this afternoon and create another Easter card to send out this week.

I also combined this card with the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge on the My Favorite Things blog. For the challenge, we had to use glitter, use a hand snipped grass element and use the challenge's card as a base for design. I used her card layout and flipped it.

Here's a close up of my grass details and my glitter.... I added glitter to the eggs in her basket and to the heart on her dress.

Just SEW Cute!

I have completely fallen in love with all the adorable images from the My Favorite Things stamp sets, "Pure Innocence". I couldn't resist adding this one to my shopping basket today at one of my favourite scrappy stores in Lethbridge.

Today challenge over at the Couture Cardstock blog is to create a project with some stitching. I sewed some of the pretty new BasicGrey patterned paper from the Kioshi line on my cardstock today.

Above is some of the ornate edge detail using one of my new Martha Stewart edge punches... another addition I have!

Have you started getting ready for Easter yet?

Lovely Little Violets

Today's challenge over at the Couture Cardstock blog is to create a project using pop-dots or other dimensional adhesive to add dimension to your project.

So I grabbed one of my newest stamp sets from Flourishes and went to town creating a fun card with some cool dimension to it. Here's my project for today's challenge...

Violets

I took inspiration from the Card Patterns blog for my design today. I used sketch #55.

I stamped a few of the violets in the image on scrap pieces of cardstock, coloured them with my Copics like I did my main image and then added some Scotch brand foam adhesive underneath them to pop them up off of the card.

You can't see it but I used some iridescent chalks to add some sparkle to my violets like some of them seem to have in real life.

supplies: patterned papers, BasicGrey, GCD Studios; stamp, Flourishes; cardstock, Prism, Bazzill; punches, Martha Stewart, EK Success; inks, Ranger, Memento, Copic; chalk, Pebbles Inc.; gems, KaiserCraft; foam adhesive, Scotch; tools, Spellbinder's, Corner Chomper, EK Succes corner rounder; ribbon, DCVW.

Makin' a Grocery List

I created this fun little project for this week's challenge over at the My Favorite Things blog this week. This week's challenge was to use a FMT template and a Pure Innocence image.

I downloaded the MFT "To Do List" template to use. I combined it with their sweet little "Flower Girl" Pure Innocence image.

I wanted to create a grocery list booklet to hang on my fridge. To showcase the template, I used a Hambly Screen Print so you can see the template behind the cover of the book. I even coloured one of the frames in from the back side with my Copics to match the colour of my papers.

Here's a close up of my little flower girl.... coloured with Copics and paper pieced with Crate Paper.

I added a rectangle of adhesive magnetic paper to the back of the notepad so it will stick to the fridge.

This will come in quite useful as I never write my grocery list down!

supplies: patterned papers, Crate Paper; stamp and template, My Favorite Things; tools, Zutter, Spellbinder's, Martha Stewart punch, Corner Chomper; transparency, Hambly Screen Prints; gems, KaiserCraft; alphabet stickers, Doodlebug Designs; ink, Memento, Copic; misc., chipboard, magnetic paper.

Under the Weather?

One of my friends has a sick little girl at home and I wanted to send her a fun card to let her know that I was thinking about her. So I combined my need for a card with today's Couture Cardstock challenge of the day.

Today's challenge was to create a project using at least 2 circles on it.

Better Get Better Card

I knew the super fun papers from Crate Paper's "Paper Doll Collection" were going to be perfect for my card. I also grabbed some of my fabulous myStampBOX stamps sets, Wishing You Sunshine (clouds) and Lines of Life (greeting).

The little girl is stamp by My Favourite Things. It was on my "had to have" list when I went to Calgary last week. I paper pieced her raincoat, umbrella and rubber boots using the Crate Paper. I added dimension and shading using my Copics.

I just know she's going to love her card!

Aqua.... Life is Tweet

I have had a chance to play along with another Couture Cardstock challenge this afternoon. Today's challenge was to use the colour teal or aqua on a project. This is a card I came up with using today's challenge colour....

Life is Tweet

Here's a close up of all the stamping and layering of the card....

Those cute little birdie cage and birdie stamps are a "life is tweet" set by Impression Obsession.

I also created this for the Caardvarks photo inspiration!
